ReZourceman Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 Covers amazing, you fool! Inside is pretty...terrible though. How can Marvel not hire A+ artists on its damn flagship title.
Happenstance Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 Im with ReZ, I like the cover but the inside is just horrible
Dan_Dare Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 Na fuck that. MJ looks absolutely awful. Since when is it OK to draw women like that? Alot of comic artists have serious problems with women...
Happenstance Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 Just finished Ultimatum #5, thats got to be the best comic event ever!!! It was just so well written and there was just enough blood and gore without it becoming pointless. The characterisations were spot on and I would love for Loeb to start writing for every Marvel comic from now on.
ReZourceman Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 *Sarcasm detector explodes, implodes, then turns into a vanilla cake. Vanilla cake then catches fire and melts into ash. Ash then disappears*
Happenstance Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 Just reading forums talking about that Spider-Man preview and its amazing just how worked up people are getting over it A lot of them really really hate the fact that Peter got drunk and has possibly slept with some woman. Its really funny reading all their comments.
Dan_Dare Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 How very prudish. I love American attitudes to sex sometimes. Bunch of neurotics, honestly.
ReZourceman Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 Invincible 68 cover. *Drools* And, Volume 3 of this just got solicited.
Dan_Dare Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 Robot makes some casts for 'vince, there. thought the red chap might be the alien that scars up Conquest but it's a bit different.
Happenstance Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 Looking forward to both Invincible and the new Wolf-Man trade. Its starting to look like I might go against my own code and buy some post Spider-Man OMD trades, ive just been reading some older stuff and I miss being able to do that. Also looking through my old USM stuff to find a new image for a sig, its a lot harder than I expected.
Dan_Dare Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 Good image, that. (now you've found it) I feel the need for new sigg-age. This needs thought.
ReZourceman Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Do we know when Dark Reign is due to end? I do believe The List is the beginning of the end and it wraps up very soon after that. Assumably next months solicitations, so lots of TBA's/maybe the next con.
Dan_Dare Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Speaking of DR- Iwas told last night to get up to speed on War Machine Which issues should I be concerned with?
ReZourceman Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 None of them, cos' they're fucking shit. The fuck told you to read it?
Happenstance Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 I havent really heard anything about War Machine lately, especially nothing linking it to Dark Reign anyway.
Dan_Dare Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 None of them, cos' they're fucking shit. The fuck told you to read it? uh, friend of mine. That bad?
ReZourceman Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 uh, friend of mine. That bad? Slap this person. Seriously its utterly forgettable. In fact out of all the Dark Reign tie ins it probably has the least actual impact of it. It stars Norman Osborn breifly. Art is AWFUL. Writing is pretty horrible. War Machine (now a cyborg) merges with a tank. That bad.
Dan_Dare Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 (edited) Owch. oh well! oh I forgot to mention: I bought the second New Avengers hardback. Absolutely immense series. Edited August 3, 2009 by Dan_Dare
Happenstance Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Ive got up to the start of the Ronin arc of New Avengers in single issues, really enjoyed most of it.
Dan_Dare Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 The Sentry arc is my favourite so far. Genius way of doing the origin story and establishing him the MU where did The Sentry go in Civil War? Seems odd that they set him up in New Avengers as a major player then Millar totally ignored him in the main Civil War arc. Strange. Especially as he could have done the role played by that weird cyborg Thor thing.
Happenstance Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 I think Sentry has actually been really poorly handled so far. Everytime something massive happens he gets written out some how, usually by playing on his fear of Void. If the people in Marvel dont want someone who can change a fight just like that then they shouldnt have really brought him back. EDIT: Here is what he was doing during Civil War according the the Marvel Database: Civil War During the Superhuman Civil War, the Sentry sided with Iron Man's Pro-Registration program. He accompanied a S.H.I.E.L.D. squad to battle Wolverine and told him that he didn't want to get involved but saw no choice - he claimed he had to stop the ugly business even if that meant becoming part of it for a while. He then knocked Wolverine unconscious and handed him over to S.H.I.E.L.D. After trying to escape from a battle between the New Avengers, believing that every path he could choose would ultimately lead to the death of people he knew, the Sentry was confronted by the Inhumans. Believed a threat, he was ordered to follow them to Black Bolt's presence on the Blue Side of the Moon. Then, after a discussion of the Civil War events with the (still unaware) Inhumans, he rekindled his friendship with them and almost resumed his past relationship with Crystal. He was then confronted by Iron Man himself, who finally convinced a still reluctant Sentry to join him. Three days after the climactic battle of the Civil War, the Sentry publicly announced his support of the Registration Act. Additionally, he was recruited by Tony Stark to be part of the Mighty Avengers, the newest incarnation of the Avengers team. He was identified as one of the 142 registered superheroes of the Initiative.
Dan_Dare Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 I think he's been superb in Dark Reign, actually. His relationship with Osborn has been brilliantly handled in Dark Avengers (with the parallels between the void and the green goblin) and the fact that everyone is basically shit scared of him is great. I can't wait to see what happens with him once it all falls apart.
