GOOD LORD. Black and neon green Spider-Man by Ramos, I just came.

Does anyone know what this is? I'm too tired to read the Spidey panel thing and planned to do so in the morning.

oh and that's a new suit for Spider-Man. I like it- though the feet stripes are a bit...meh. Upgrade to the Iron Spider?

and...uhh...woah.

What is that/from?

I'm over Humberto Ramos. It's too much. Chris Bachalo is as far as that kinda cartoony works, while retaining the right amount of grit, IMO.

Oh my god, Spider-Man sounds awesome.

So its going from the Web-Heads 3 times a month, to just Dan Slott, 2 issues a month, 30 pages each. The era (ala Brand New Day) is now "Big Time" he will get his dream job and basically be rich, so it sounds like he makes some alternate suits.

Sounds awesome.

Yeah. Dream job = Baxter Building lab. Hells yeah.

Peter is basically a scientific genius; he created web fluid at 15 and they've never done anything with that, despite the patents being worth billions.

Ok, so I'm back home and collecting all my shit together comics-missed -wise.

However, I was wondering if someone could show me where I could procure X-Men 1? Can't seem to find it....in..stock..

Been catching up with missed stuff all afternoon and evening.

Second Coming was good.

It wasn't the best X-Event ever, and lacked a certain resonance...perhaps because of the huge cast, and me not really caring about the Cable/Hope relationship. We also all knew (really) what would happen in the end. The question I guess is what happens next.

Second Coming: Hellbound was a diversion, and really, I should've just read a summary of the issues, as nothing much happens. Good GOD they're pushing Pixie as of late. Not sure why...but they've primed her as the next Jubilee/Kitty, clearly. Might work once they bring X-Men back to smaller teams, atm, it just seems odd. I like Dazzler being back on the main team, and Gambit can go fuck a duck. He's (literally!) what the problem was in Hellbound. Anyway.

Read X-Men 1...meh. I'm really not keen on Vampire shite, I can only accept it in Buffy and Angel because it doesn't take itself seriously/is strangely barely about vampires.

I DID like how it does kinda make sense, and everyone made a point of mentioning Storm's prior contact with Dracula from the 80's or whenever. But I can't be dealing with a whole "vampire event". Ew. Also, I feel sorry for Jubilee. She's just continually kicked around in the mud. :(

Ultimate Avengers was fun, nothing amazing though. It does feel a bit like the team are just running around after Ghost Rider until we see more of his back-story. But the art and scripting is top notch.

New Ultimates is so far more enjoyable than Loeb's previous Ultimates. Glad Valkyrie's life is finally explained, and he managed to link it into Millar's work suprisingly well. I enjoyed the action scenes, and the art is nice. I kinda like this current team for it's randomness. It's not great (It's Marvel Loeb!), but I liked it for what it was. Also gasped at the ending - mainly cause I didn't want it to happen. :(

Also planning to catch up on Walking Dead, stopped at 70 when I couldn't find 71 around.

'All-Star Superman' gets animated

Warner Bros has announced an animated feature based on All-Star Superman, reports Robot 6.

The DC Universe Original Movie adaptation of Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely's award-winning reimagination of Superman is due for release in spring 2011.

The film will be written by Dwayne McDuffie, who described the series as "one of the greatest stories in comic book history".

Morrison has also revealed that his Vertigo title Joe the Barbarian is being adapted for the big screen.

I wonder if they'll change the art style/they will. Which will be a shame.

I'd like to see how they'd handle making the animation Quitely-esque, but I predict a riot.

I also predict the comic itself will be better.

I can't find the end of Grim Hunt. :(

Okay. *waits*

I thought I'd missed Astonishing X-Men: Xenogenesis as well, but turns out that's out next month for some reason. Has anyone been reading it? I know the initial artwork had me a bit "...", but since reading the first two, I've fallen completely in love with the art. It's Kaare Andrews, who seems, quite spectacularly, to have a different approach and style to everything he does. Which is rare in comics - people generally want to have a known style, or brand. Take his Ultimate X-Men issues, they're completely different to Spider-Man:Reign, his Wolverine stories I've read, and now Astonishing. Very talented, and definitely an artist's artist.

His art is so tactile.

Examples:

It might be the fact you can tell he can do "photorealistic" really well, but knows that's not what makes good comic illustration. He also makes not so sly digs at people like Greg Land in interviews, so auto-win.

While I'm not enamoured with his Emma design, reading interviews, he said he wanted to do something different with her, just for the jokes.

But yeah, can't put my finger on it, but I LOVE the art, and can't wait for the next issue/might buy the trade when it's out.
