DCK Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 It seems more likely that it'll be for Wii in that case; a 360 version would be portable to the PS3 and I can't imagine SE releasing FFXII for a console that is unpopular in Japan. Besides, on Wii it would sell like there's no tomorrow. By the time it comes out the Wii is likely to have overtaken the 360 as market leader, too.
Mr. Bananagrabber Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 Surely it would have to downgraded horribly or be spread across five discs to be on the Wii? Although all signs do point to a Wii version being likely. Should be interesting.
McPhee Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 Im doubtful about a Wii port of the main RPG, it will take a lot of dev time to put it onto the Wii (downgrading + Wii controls). More likely we'll see a Wii exclusive FFXIII game. The 360 seems likely for a port because its pretty straight-forward to do and currently is the key to getting sales in the West. Plus, no doubt there'd be a nice tip from Microsoft for all the trouble

Yeah but 360 is more popular in the west so its kind of a tough call do you want cumlative global sales to be high or just in one particular region.
DiemetriX Posted April 18, 2007 Author Posted April 18, 2007 more info supporting a 360 port. ["old"] The creator of the Final Fantasy series has revealed that he believes Final Fantasy should come to the Xbox 360: "I feel that the Final Fantasy series should come to Xbox 360 as well. This is wise. It makes so much sense to me...it has so much potential in North America and in Europe. So there's a great chance for the series to succeed on 360 as well." Having created the series originally, we don't take Sakaguchi-san's words lightly, and hopefully, neither do Sqaure Enix. With more good news, he let slip that the 'White Engine' upon which Final Fantasy XIII is built is an open platform engine. While it sounds technical, all this means is the engine runs independent of the hardware, making a port to the Xbox 360 and easy job, and something we'll be praying for at every given opportunity. soruce: http://www.maxconsole.net/?mode=news&newsid=15255

Final Fantasy VII Advent Children - BluRay From an interview with Shinji Hashimoto: - Crystal Chronicles II will make heavy use of the Wiimote. - Fabula Nova Crystallis is a ten year project. It will be similar in scope to Star Wars. - SE currently thinks about several casual games for DS. - There'll be many announcement, including new games, at the SE party, TGS and Jump Festa this year. Not only SE-fans, but especially Nintendo-fans should look forward to the SE party in May. Shinji Hashimoto of Square Enix gave a few details on his project "Fabula Nova Crystallis" during an interview with the japanese magazine, Nintendo Dream. He informed us that the world of Final Fantasy XIII would span over a period of 10 years; a period similar to that of Star Wars or Lord of the Rings. Hashimoto also announced that Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles : The Crystal Bearers on Wii, for which we have very few details, would completely utilize the wiimote's features, and reminds us that Square Enix would make some very important announcements concerning some unannounced titles at Square Enix Party 2007 (on May 12-13), Tokyo Game Show and Jump Fiesta, and mentioned (with a smile) that Nintendo and Square Enix fans should pay close attention to next month's Square Enix Party 2007. In other news, the japanese magazine Gamelabo published, in its rumor section, an interesting piece of information concerning Dragon Quest IX: Protectors of the sky for the Nintendo DS. Apparently, it will be possible for players to transfer monsters from the DS game to the wii, but take this with a grain of salt. Finally, Famitsu Wii and DS are predicting the next major Wii and DS releases. According to them, Final Fantasy Tactics A2 : The Sealed Grimoire would be released in July in Japan for the DS, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles : Ring of Fates in August, Super Mario Galaxy for Wii in October, Dragon Quest IX : Protectors of the Sky in November, and Super Smash Bros. Brawl for Wii in December. The last piece of info is that Final Fantasy : Anniversary Edition, which was released today in Japan and is scheduled for a June 26 release in the US, will contain english subtitles as these pictures show.
