mcj metroid Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 talk about the reasons why this is better than mario kart . If you don't agree with that say why you don't so i can disagree with you:) i'll just copy the post from the mario kart thread of why i think here...... It s everythin mario kart should be.it has a long one player where you explore different worlds. it had 22 tracks which at the time was more than any mario kart.it had a much much better battle mode.no stupid bolloons or anything. You could fully adjust what items you want there and one you didnt. i think the powerups were more fair. the shortcuts are excellent and really take practice to find out. the game is more challanging than the simple mario karts.best controls in a kart game until mario kart ds. Arguably had better graphics than mario kart 64. it was certainly excellent for ps1. Had no annoying voice overs like HI IM DAISY. mario kart is what i call an overrated series. Nintendo never seem to surprise us with extras anymore like games like super mario deluxe for the gameboy. They seem to give us what they think is enough for us... DD was too short and 16 tracks is pathetic
Atomic Boo Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 Intense game, much more speedy, great shortcuts and requires much more skill. Papus pyramid is pretty cool, when your going down a hill just before it gets bumpy you take a left by boosting onto a platform and then boosting back onto back onto the track to get to the shortcut on the side where there are a few item box things and its much quicker (spped boosts too?) and then theres loads of other simple shortcuts like on a particular ice level where you bump over a wall and turn at the same time instead of driving all the way round. Better than MK any day. well, almost anyday.
The Bard Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 Safe, awesome game, some of the tracks were immense. This is calling for an online DS resurrection.
Zell Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 Safe, awesome game, some of the tracks were immense. This is calling for an online DS resurrection. As long as it's not as vile as Nitro Kart, or Tag Team Racing for that matter (not that I've played it, but any clone of Double Dash is a no-no).
mcj metroid Posted March 1, 2007 Author Posted March 1, 2007 i mean i dont understand why the idiots making the games these days cant just make the same game with new tracks, new music and improved graphics? What the hell is the problem
Atomic Boo Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 i mean i dont understand why the idiots making the games these days cant just make the same game with new tracks, new music and improved graphics? What the hell is the problem youve hit the nail on the head. it cant be that difficult. more people would buy it if they just stuck with the original idea but made more tracks etc. they may think they're 'innovating and improving anyway' but they are not. keep it how it was.
The Bard Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 I go for Crash usually, cause I'm a boring fuck. Or Cortex, but he's the same as crash.
mcj metroid Posted March 1, 2007 Author Posted March 1, 2007 i was always fake crash really.the difference in characters was vast and you could really tell the difference. its been so long but i think fake crash had the best grip
Zell Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 I'm usually Ripper Roo (although penta was miles better than anyone else, it would be unfiar to use him). You gotta love his screeching laugh.
mcj metroid Posted March 1, 2007 Author Posted March 1, 2007 well lots of praise here. http://psx.ign.com/articles/161/161595p1.html i love reading reviews like this
Atomic Boo Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 I usually go for Crash, but Dingo Dile and Polar are good also.
Kurtle Squad Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 I'm usually Ripper Roo (although penta was miles better than anyone else, it would be unfiar to use him). You gotta love his screeching laugh. Since when?/How? I usually go for Cortex due to being balanced.
Teppo Holmqvist Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 BTW... If people are interested, we could try playing this online using ePSXe* and Cyberpad**. Of course, playing online would require that everybody would have original copy of PAL CTR, but I believe that everybody in this thread has one. * PSOne emulator ** Plugin for ePSXe that allows playing PSX games via online.
Teppo Holmqvist Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 Exlplain more.... Well, ePSXe is, as I said is PSOne emulator. About five years ago, someone wrote netplay plugin for it, which allows game played over the net. Players join to game and simply take over single available controller. The bad thing about Cyberpad is that it isn't really that optimized. Even small disturbances in the connection can spell disaster for session, and it isn't really that tolerant when it comes to latency. But inside UK and Europe it works relatively well. Each user must, naturally, have same* copy of game and same virtual memory card contents. * NTSC and PAL versions don't work between oneselves
Zell Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 Since when?/How? I usually go for Cortex due to being balanced. Penta seemed to excel at all stats...
Tellyn Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 This was an awesome game, my first PS1 game. I never completed it but it's the best Crash game. They've gone downhill since then.
mcj metroid Posted March 2, 2007 Author Posted March 2, 2007 hm a good idea. i still have my copy but am not sure of it's condition. I was kick ass at the game though.
Kurtle Squad Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 Im sorry but i no longer have my copy... This one deserves shooting
Atomic Boo Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 This one deserves shooting I agree. Can I have the blindfold please?
The Bard Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 I agree. Can I have the blindfold please? Nah, but here's a smoke. Any last words? Lol, well my copy was a chipped one in the first place, so it's all good.
That Guy Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 This was an awesome game, my first PS1 game. I never completed it but it's the best Crash game. They've gone downhill since then. Totally, Crash 1-3 were quality, and games I might buy to play on PS2, and CTR was really good as well. Now Crash is crap...
Atomic Boo Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 Totally, Crash 1-3 were quality, and games I might buy to play on PS2, and CTR was really good as well. Now Crash is crap... Dont forget Crash Bash. its like mario party but 5 times better.
