@Fierce_LiNk you're more of a Mystic Meg than Rio Ferdinand

I do think Italy will properly knob us in the final. 2-0.

All depends if Chiesa is fit enough for it or not, as I think he pulled up towards the end of yesterday's game.

Italy's midfield vs. Rice, Mount, and Phillips. Fuck. Could get messy.

Looking forward to Southgate bringing on Grealish in the last 10 seconds of the final. I bet he makes him sit at a separate table, using plastic cutlery and ordering off the kids menu.

Southgate hates Grealish, hope England lose now...

Can't believe he took him off! What is that all about? I think leaving him out from the starting 11 entirely is a massive call anyway, but to bring him on and take him off is just weird. Not sure what he's playing at.

Surprised Southgate only made the one change, don't want to get into the mindset of saving the changes for extra time - try and win it in the 90

I get the feeling that he's saving it for extra time. If he puts on another attacker in, say, midfield, there's always the possibility that Denmark can counter and nick the winner. At least with extra time you're guaranteed time.

  4. I think we'll see a similar pattern to yesterday's game. England (like Spain) will have a lot of the ball, but Denmark will hope to get something on the counter. It's all about whether we can get a goal or two in that first half.

  5. I'm seeing a lot of posts online about people assuming England will just somehow breeze into the final to play against Italy. This is the same England that were underwhelming against Scotland. I don't think anything should get taken for granted. Focus on the next game first.

  6. Belgium are annoying me with how often they give the ball away. Tielemans and Witsel in the middle have been quite disappointing, imo. Just giving the Italians so much space and aren't really doing anything to either defend or attack.

  7. Red card was a clear red, all day long for me. If that guy's leg isn't broken, he is extremely lucky. It wasn't intentional, but it's an out of control lunge that was high on the opponent's leg and looked very nasty. We can't be going around saying that attempts like that are ok for the ball. It's dangerous and reckless.

I'm slightly amazed at how divisive that sending off has been across social media and other forums. So many seem to think that it was a very harsh judgement.

Wow. Massive advantage. How much did England stump up to UEFA for that or have all matches been so partisan? :blank:

England have had a massive leg-up with this competition in terms of their venue for matches, their little need to travel, and having their home fans so easily able to attend games. I do think other nations have a right to feel aggrieved.

Belgium had their games at St Petersburg, Copenhagen, back to St Petersburg, Seville, and the next game is in Munich! In comparison, England have had four games at Wembley. Not sure how this can be justified...

  9. What a game. Fucking hell. I was properly slagging off Switzerland after their penalty miss in normal time and when they conceded those goals. "Is Switzerland actually a country? It isn't Germany, it isn't France, it isn't Austria, it isn't Italy. What the fuck is it?!" "All they do is banking and chocolate." "What did the Swiss ever do for us?"

The quality of football was great overall. Really exciting to watch. It was like the footballing equivalent of Rocky. Or even Rocky II. Proper good.

    Fuck off, France.

  10. The stealth release update of Hancock's firmware has been the biggest surprise of the week for me. In the previous update, the crying functions just looked completely unrealistic. However, the tech has evolved now into the double-handed arse grab, which is quite a feat. The lip-syncing and voicework for his resignation speech was pretty convincing in places, too. The writing itself still needs a bit of work, so they must have got an intern in for that part.

Here's hoping they can sort it all out in Version 3.1, just in time for his return as Education Minister in the Winter.

  11. I thought the ref ruined the game actually. He let too many things go in the first half and that set the tone for the second. There was a moment where Lukaku was making a run towards the Portuguese box in the first half and was clearly tugged back, which the ref just completely ignored. He seemed to let too many things just run on, which inevitably led to the tackle on De Bruyne, which saw him go off early in the second half.

Portugal were unlucky in the second half and had all of the ball. But, I thought Belgium did well to just soak up the pressure and ride it out. Sometimes you can't just attack against a team like that, because they'll hit you with Ronaldo or Bruno or Joao Felix. If the Portuguese team that finished the game were the same team that started the first half, I think they would eventually have found a way through.

Portugal taking off Renato Sanches was a crazy move, though. He looked really dangerous, I thought.

As for Belgium, they've only conceded 1 goal so far. That's really good. You need a defence like that to win games like this. Saying that, Italy look the most exciting team in this tournament, so they're the favourites, imo.

One of Belgium, Italy, England, France, or Germany to win it, imo. Tempted to say it'll be a France vs. Germany final, if that's still possible.
