The Gentlemen's Mafia II - Hunter's Chance
Fierce_LiNk replied to Jonnas's topic in General Chit Chat
Rummy, what did you do last night? Also, can you answer me this: Are you and Dazz able to communicate outside this thread (about the game)? -
The Gentlemen's Mafia II - Hunter's Chance

Works for me. I'm suspicious of him anyway. Vote: Tales Will go for a single, for now. Cmaaan, don't boolsheet us, Tales. -
It really is knackering. Its the changes of speed that I think kills you, since you're running one moment, sprinting the next, stopping, starting again, etc. A mate at work is organising a kick-about every Monday, so I'm going to try that, to improve my fitness. I play squash with Ine, but it doesn't get me tired anywhere near as much as football does. So yeah, that's my recommendation! Plus, you're too busy playing the game to stop and say "hell yeah, I'm doing cardio, I've covered 5km of ground, or something."

[SPOILERS!!] The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
Fierce_LiNk replied to Dante's topic in Nintendo Gaming
It just seems nicer to have the film or game in its intended language. I do like watching foreign films and hearing the language of the country in question. It just seems to make it more authentic and less "fake." Like "this film is set in 1940's Russia but everybody speaks English", it just directly pulls you out of that location. The illusion is then gone and you're aware that you're watching a film. But then again, subtitles doesn't bother me. I know it bothers some, so maybe for them that destroys the illusion. Haha, wow. Thats...incredibly harsh. I don't think anybody should be forced to speak English. Why? Granted, a lot of Europeans know/speak English or are bilingual/trilingual/multilingual. But, they shouldn't be forced to speak the language. -
I actually thought that the remake was awful. Truly awful. It had no suspense whatsoever, no build-up, no tension. Pretty much a Hollywood Z-movie with as little effort put into it as possible. It just felt cheap. A few years back, I was really into Ringu, and have seen the second film and also the prequel. I remember Rizz was also a fan of the films, back on C-E I think it was. The original is just so much better. It actually does seem like some care went into its craft. The dialogue and interaction between the characters is better as well. It may be slower for some, but it was intended to build up suspense and create tension, which I think it did.

I've noticed that I am and feel quite lighter these past few months. I've been trying to get the diet right, cutting out some of the sheet that I eat. Snacking has gone out of the window. I've been trying to eat more fruit and veg, and trying to work in more protein, particularly on gym days. At school, I've been playing football pretty much once a day, during breaktimes or lunchtimes with the kids, so that's been helping me get some exercise during the day. I'm usually knackered by the time I get to bed. Football is quite under-rated as part of exercise. It really is knackering, particularly if its 5-a-side or something. The amount of stop-start-speedboosting included is great for burning off energy.

[SPOILERS!!] The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
Fierce_LiNk replied to Dante's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Ah, I agree with you about voice acting, but I think cut-scenes are important. At least in this day and age. Not excessive amounts, like you say. But, to counter your point, what about the language of Aramaic being used in The Passion of the Christ? It added authenticity and gave the film part of its identity. Also, what if English isn't your first language, like it isn't for the majority of Europe, let alone the world. It would need to be subtitled anyway, in that case. -

Thing of all the awesomeness that we would have missed out on if the theatrical side of things was left out. We wouldn't have the four giants stopping the moon from crashing down. We wouldn't have Link escaping a crumbling castle. Or we also wouldn't have any duels taking place on a burning bridge in Hyrule. Set pieces are very important in Zelda games. -
The Gentlemen's Mafia II - Hunter's Chance
Fierce_LiNk replied to Jonnas's topic in General Chit Chat
Wohoo. Well, if it brings mafia out into that open, then I can dig that. I think that's why I've lasted for so long. Was expecting to get night-killed aaaages ago. Anyway, I find it odd that nothing was mentioned about Tales himself. Tales, if you don't live there, where exactly have you been living? You a traveller? -
[SPOILERS!!] The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
Fierce_LiNk replied to Dante's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Why should they speak English, exactly? If the game takes place in Hyrule, they should speak Hylian. I would probably prefer them to stay silent in all honesty, or speaking a language which isn't English, but with the option to have English text. Hylian would make the game seem fairly authentic, that you're in a land with its own people, its own culture and language. Anyway, not hugely excited because I (like many others) know nothing about the game. I doubt it'll be a colossal disaster, so no doubt I'll end up buying it. I guess that's part of the problem, most of us would buy Zelda regardless, and that includes whether or not there's a big change or not. -
We did give them too much space. Fletcher would have been very useful, but he's been suffering with a virus which pretty much wrote off his season weeks ago. I was looking forward to Anderson maybe playing, but unfortunately it wasn't meant to be. The three you mentioned didn't play that great, but they've been awesome this season, so it would be wrong for me to slate them now. They should have done better, though. I thought we were doing ok for the first 15 or so mins, and we responded well after conceding the goal. We just didn't get going in the second half. We stopped closing down quickly, we didn't pass the ball fast enough, we didn't try and beat them with pace. We lost concentration after doing pretty decently in the first half. I thought the only player in midfield who probably had a good game was Michael Carrick. He was closing down pretty quickly, made some good passes and tried to get forward quite often. Its just a shame the rest of the midfield didn't quite manage it.

It isn't the same, nowhere near. The dynamics for a two leg game are different to a Final. With a final, you know its decided over the 90 minutes (or in Extra time or penalties, if it comes to that that). With a two-legged game, you can afford to lose the first game, or even the second. Its how you play over both games. Effectively, you were leading at half time. (Depends on how you look at it, some may say the game was balanced as Barca had the away goal) You will put the effort into a two-legged quarter or semi-final, but you will always react differently mentally to a final. Never once said its not a great thing what you did. I was cheering you on when I watched the game with an Arsenal fan and fans of other teams. You played a great game against them and I cheered heavily when you got the winner. I still maintain that with the way they were playing yesterday, I can't see anybody beating them. That was them at their very best. To beat them, there are too many factors involved, which includes them having an off-day and also if you defend like you're lives depend on it. As a kid, the team that scared me the most was the Juventus team of the 90s. Del Piero, Inzaghi, Zidane, Deschamps, etc. This Barca team are what people are going to be talking about for years. Annoyingly good. Really pains me to say it, but credit when its due. They deserve it.

I'm not particularly well travelled. Been to Paris twice with Ine, as well as going to different parts of France with school years ago. Been to London quite often, as well as living in different parts of England and Wales. The only thing is that I've been to two countries that a lot of my friends have never been to before and maybe will never go to. Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. Preferred Saudi Arabia a lot more. There was a definite wow factor that I had when I was there. Saw some beautiful mosques and managed to get lost for hours by myself when I was a kid there. They are huge, cannot emphasise that enough...especially in Mecca. I'd love to visit South America, one day. Also, I imagine Russia would be interesting. Germany seems to get good press as well from people who visit there, so I want to see it for myself.

Not quite the same, though. One game at home out of two legs, compared to the final. The way they were playing last night, they would have annihilated anyone. It's not even that United were playing badly, Barca were just something else.

I've just watched the game. I had my idiot of a housemate text me with "Barcelooooona harrr harrr" when I was on my way to Ine's place. I texted her back and really laid into her. Stupid cow. As for the game, gutted. At half time, I was so hopeful. But, they're just too good. We couldn't get close to them and had to keep relying on hopeful balls. We scored with our best bit of play, but we never created anything similar to that afterwards. My biggest disappointment was Valencia tonight. Thought he didn't perform as well as he could have, but he's only been playing the last few months due to injury for the first half of the season. I thought the team ran their socks off tonight, but it just wasn't enough. Rooney has gone some way towards redeeming himself. He tried so hard tonight and scored a good goal. But, it just wasn't meant to be. Can't honestly think of a team who can beat Barce. Its their ethos and the way that they play. They will just pass you to death and create space...its hard to defend against. We just didn't close them down fast enough...the second and third goals were evidence of that. Need a hug.

I'm hoping that people on Belgian public Transport don't know that the game is on. Or, that my awful Dutch won't be able to interpret the score if they talk about it. Or else...there will be hell. To pay.

Just arrived home from a pub evening out with work. Sorry for the late reply, dudes. I saw ReZ's post on previous page and was thinking I had to vote, but then the other two voted. I was going to put my vote down. Fingers crossed. -

Whoa, when did I ever defend Eddie? I never once defended her. In fact, I repeatedly said she was possibly mafia, but also thought ReZ was dodgy. -

You did, and thank you. I will be changing my vote to Eddie, once the time is right. We need Rummy's info. I'm not ending the day.
