  1. Well, "hardly any criticism" seems certainly not to be the case for Epic Mickey. This site had a lot of criticism. From the writing I'd say this is everything but biased and the criticism is probably justified. Just don't flare up now, the author of the Review commented on GoNintendo, saying that in their rating scale, this score means an above average game. I'll see for myself when I come home tonight and find the time to give the game a good try.
  2. You did hear, that Duke Nukem Forever is again in development and will be out next year though, didn't you?
  3. That particular Video wasn't released until comicon. Still, every coverage from E3 and after I came across made it clear, that this wasn't a mere remake. And despite some people crying on about how disappointed they are that this isn't a remake, I must say that it's probably the best thing they could have done. From what I remember of Goldeneye, I wouldn't want to play it today. The only thing that I might like are some of the multiplayer maps, but those belong to Rare.
  4. These developers didn't leave much to speculation:
  5. Take this as an edit to my last post That "bullshit" reason you mention would probably be Pierce Brosnan's lawyers kicking Activision's balls if they sold his face in a game without his permission.
  6. @EEVILMURRAY You must've been living behind the moon since E3... They call it "re-imagining". A remake as you describe it is impossible due to the rights being scattered to the four winds. For this, they hired a writer (co-writer of the Goldeneye Movie), had him rewrite Goldeneye's story in a modern context (vs. cold war) and then they build a game around it with what actors they could muster. There is a dam, a facility, a tank chase, a satellite and a winter level, but they're not necessarily in the same order and they won't look or play the same. Out of interest, what comes after "increadible" in your rating scale, when "increadible" translates to 7/10? Having to choose a rating from 1-10, a game I find incredible would be an 8, while a competent but slightly flawed game would be a 7. Well, I wouldn't play anything I'd rate lower than 7, so I find the 1-10 scale a bit flawed in itself, but that's another matter...
  7. Obviously, "everyone" would agree that it is while GameInformer would disagree.
  8. @That Guy: As long as she's not the "OMFG this kidz game iz suckz, play mature games like CoD lolol!!11"-youtube commenter kind of person... :p
  9. Nothing I've heard so far suggests that this is in any way specifically directed at kids. Very much in the contrary. Out of interest: who laughed at you or rather what is their knowledge about computer-/video-games? If they have any idea of the matter, it might be worth pointing out who Spector is and what games he has been involved in. Otherwise, I wouldn't bother.
  10. Only if it has dulled your perception of new games.
  11. If Specor had been responsible for Rayman, I would've never cared for Epic Mickey, no more than I ever did for Rayman. He was responsible for Deus Ex though.
  12. Sources? I guess that's completely up to personal preference. Even though I am quite hyped for the game, I couldn't say that the footage shows better visuals than SMG2. It looks just too dark and blurry in the youtube videos. At least Spector is absolutely confident in his game and I'm rather confident in him. ^^
  13. I see that the thread has finally been renamed according to its true topic. How about moving it to the retro gaming section? People comparing their nostalgia dicks should be right at home over there. So, until a new thread dedicated to DCR is created, how about having a look at another hopefully excellent Wii J'n'R/Adventure/RPG that's not far away either?
  14. They can't copy another developer's level 1:1 and sell it with their game, so they have to run with the general idea...
  15. Emigrated to Donkey Kong's land, apparently. I'll be getting this though.
  16. It really should be. But that might be wishful thinking. The japanese price translates to 300 USD, as far as I know. I fear we can count ourselves lucky, if it's an lower than 300€ over here. Nintendo probably thinks they can get away with it and I wouldn't be surprised if they can...
  17. Nothing is better than nostalgia, is it?
  18. Weren't those leaked wip shots that looked rather... ugly? I don't remember any official press material for MW:R...
  19. Lucky Nintendo came up with a bad console that saved their day, as their last two good consoles weren't capable of doing so. :p
  20. So there actually was no irony in your earlier comment? What made you think this was a cheap cash in? I admit that the earlier youtube videos (especially the first ones that came from E3) had horrible quality, but from the later and better quality videos it should have been absolutely apparent, that this was a project with a huge amount of effort put into it. At least it should have been apparent to anyone following the released videos with open eyes and only a slight idea about video games, that this cash in wouldn't be cheap. Just to relink them for this page, what part of those videos didn't scream "high production value"? The voice acting is top notch, the motion capturing is top notch, the atmosphere created by the weather effects is top notch, the scripted sequences are excellently executed and the sound design is everything if not ambitious. And it seems the game didn't turn out half bad either.
  21. I'd wager the more likely reason is that you're looking at the touch screen from a different angle than you would look at the top screen.
  22. @Zechs: Don't forget the Joystiq Review (4/5).
  23. Double bot fail? Spamming an English forum with German stuff. In bad German.
  24. Do you get negative kills when you run into your own grenade?
  25. Mh, Game Informer. The same people who gave Other M an 6.25 partly because they were seemingly unable to control the game?
