  1. The problem is tho the more you eat the more hungry you get if that makes sense ?

I will try and have a healthy bowl of porridge

If you continue the way you are going, you are headed towards weight loss stalls, health problems, and the cycling between what you're doing and binge episodes.

I've been there and done it countless of times before, and as a result I am 3 stone heavier than when I started dieting in 2008.

I agree with JonSt's point, its gotta be a change in lifestyle.

  2. Ive been in a deficit for about 5 weeks. The week before I started I got an Clean/OHP of 50kg and haven't seen it since :(

    come baaaacccckk

Also......situps are just back pain waiting to happen! DEM PLANKS. Works your core about a million times harder too x( (and the added bonus of no repetitive strain!!)

  3. I can OHP 50kg, but I doubt I could even OHS 40kg. Its a good workout for stabilising, lots of back/shoulder/arm work keeping it all steady. The limitations are in what you can keep steady as opposed to what you can squat!

Back/front squats for legs without a doubt.

  4. Welcome to squats! The pain does get better somewhat over time. Just don't take breaks spanning weeks...or else you have to start over with the pain.

I love that feeling when your arse hurts the next day. Hamstring activationnnn.

Yeah I found overheads didn't really activate the legs as much, I spent more energy/muscle power keeping my body straight, and keeping the bar still above my head I guess! I've never felt doms in my hams before! I love it when new parts ache that never did before! And like srs swole, my legs are muscly today (no doubt they'll be gone in the morning :( )

  5. Sounds like a reasonable deal to me. I'd be wary of super cheap places, like its been said, they're not always as good as they seem. Mines £25.99 a month and I think I had to pay £40 odd to join.

On a slightly different note, my ass hurts, my legs hurt and my shoulders hurt. Ow. :( Also, I found a downside of being a woman. post squats, and having to sit on the toilet every damn time :(

  6. You Are Your Own Gym by Mark Lauren is a very awesome book for ideas of bodyweight stuff.

I am definitely on the olympic/powerlifting side of weightlifting. Static weights bore me and I hate having to rely on a stand. Its bad enough getting an oly bar in my gym at times!

Come to the dark side @Retro_Link, we need moar members =P Also I think you'd be surprised at what you CAN lift if you give it a try, with some good advice, encouragement and a bit of hard work. *nods*

  7. I've got a 7ft Olympic bar, its a beast. Worth every penny. But I *think* the oly plates are more expensive. However the oly has the advantage that its already 20kg in itself, compared to 5-10kg for regular bars.

Kettlebells are awesome, there's a lot ye can do with them.

  8. overhead squats?

I'm the opposite, i've got too much flexibility! I have to control everything or else I end up doing it wrong & straining muscles. Snatches are fun when you've got too much shoulder flexibility... I can end up throwing the bar behind me and falling on my backside!

  9. It gets easier! Have you tried a clean position with elbows forward?

I had another successful but a bit meh session. Its kinda hard to get back into it when my endurance is shot to pieces from being so sick and not exercising :( Just keep at it and hope it catches.

  10. Yay.

Started adding weighted overhead squats into my routine, 25kg x 20 reps had my legs killed! Its gonna be a slow lift progression for me, my quads (in a knee function sense) are definitely my weakest point.

I looveeee dumbbell snatches. They're so hard but so so ass kicking/rewarding.

  11. depends who you ask over here, but the majority of people in N,Ireland would consider themselves to be british.. (nationalists on the other hand....)

And yeah there is still trouble over here... our police officers carry guns. We still have regular bomb threats and riots. We had a lot of trouble over christmas over the head of a flag being taken down..

But saying that, things are a lot easier than they used to be even 10-15 years ago

Oh yeah; I call myself british cause I'm actually a born Scot. I would consider n.ireland to be my home though.

  12. Liquid chalk is handy if your gym allows the use of it.

I was at the gym today, beating PRs again :heh: Got a 115kg deadlift (a massive 15kg more than my last PR) and I managed to hit my 50kg power clean and press... I had been trying and trying and trying for about 3 weeks to get it so that's pleased me more than the deadlift :D

My personal trainer was telling me that there was a local comp in Lisburn not that long ago and the winner in my category (female over 85kg) won deadlift with 107.5kg!! I'm gonna be a freakin machine if I can win minor comps with only 3 months serious training! :D
