  1. If the HMV in Bournemouth goes, now Borders is gone, there's nowhere for CDs and DVDs
  2. There's details like that, and then there's your own personal stuff.
  3. Are you randomly spouting corporate bull here? I would never trust my files on a "cloud" computer and countless people would be the same. That would eliminate privacy completely and nobody will ever stand for that.
  4. True, but there are many factors against digital downloads than there are for them. Compression for example. A 720 digital download looks much worse than a 720p BluRay due to compression and all that. There are way too many issues that need to be sorted before it can even be thought of as viable
  5. There also needs to be the fact that if you buy something and the company goes under, you can get it from elsewhere. That's the one thing with digital distribution. If you lose your file and the company goes under, you're fucked Storage space is another issue. Until we're in the ExaByte harddrives...I don't see it happening
  6. I'm not entirely sure on that assessment
  7. What do you mean by "at times"? :p
  8. Don't blame the people for shopping elsewhere as it's ridiculously expensive. Plus, beforehand, in the run up to Christmas, the queues were terrible and there were only like two staff on tills. The bad thing is, the queues blocked various parts of the store.
  9. My complaint about SGU is that it is about people trapped on the other side of the universe, which ok is a good concept. However, I'd have loved them to explore a bit more and not have annoying episodes back on Earth "Oh no...my ex is a stripper and had a kid. Oh no...my lesbian partner doesn't think it's me and I forgot the boat in the painting" and so forth
  10. God no. There is no reason to reboot it. Any reboot will be hated by me and anyone who lives
  11. Right...some more Joe pics from Christmas and New Years And one final one of me being contemplative
  12. There's also the problem with new series with getting new people on board. A lot of people think that to watch SGU, they need to have watched SG1 and Atlantis
  13. While I'd love a movie to wrap up SGU, I'd really be happier with a SG1 movie and I think the fact SGU did have low ratings means the public would probably be happier with it too
  14. I've heard that the Atlantis movie is indefinitely shelved but the SG1 movie isn't. Fingers crossed!
  15. Anyone catch the partial solar eclipse this morning?
  16. It's cloudy as fuck here. I'm not happy
  17. See, this is what I like about Sci-Fi such as Star Trek and Stargate. They actually regularly consulted with top scientists to make sure their theories were scientifically viable. Lots of shows these days don't do that and just make shit up. However, Voyager seemed to miss those scientists :P
  18. They actually touched upon that theory within Star Trek. Their theory was Transwarp (Warp 10 in Star Trek...in one of the worst episodes I might add) and the statement that at that speed you will occupy every point in the universe simultaneously. Yeah, that's essentially it, the shifting of travel to subspace and other dimensions in order to create quicker travel.
  19. Warp Drive is the most feasible method of interstellar travel. HyperSpace, the other common sci-fi staple for it is also feasible but brings a whole bunch of other issues if you follow our "laws" of physics as doctrine They said that about the sound barrier once...
  20. I'm sorry. Am I ruining fun again?
  21. Oh sure, the atmospheres of 500 planets are indicative of the whole galaxy. Fools lol Terraforming planets is a feasible way of fixing that, especially if the planet is in the sweetspot. If not, then you just need to create a biodome and have M-Class atmosphere in that dome.
  22. They criticise that? Good god, have they never actually heard of terraforming? God Anyway, the Quadrantids meteor shower is tonight. Estimated 120 meteors an hour
  23. I checked with a friend and he said that yes, they can use the WPA encryption connection on the DSi
  24. Legal notices from Nintendo's lawyers are not fun
  25. I don't have a Japanese DSi so I haven't been able to check. I'll ask around
