  1. There have been a couple of instances where I have questioned if there was input lag, put I pegged it on it being a N64 game and they're seldom fluid
  2. Exactly. There's a difference between making a platformer and making a polished, clever, fun platformer.
  3. No. Absolutely not.
  4. Why not both? I'd rather pay to download them than pay a subscription
  5. I can field that one. 3DS is not capable of accurately emulating GBA to a degree that they feel is appropriate for selling. Closest they can get is how they did the ambassador games where they tricked the 3DS into running it in DS mode, and that had issues as it is. They had no Sleep Mode or Virtual Console features, and glitchy sound and/or graphics. DS games would only be possible by doing it similar to that and having it download as DSiWare, but most DS titles would need recoding to adapt for saving to the hardware and the 3DS only has a small amount of space for DSiWare titles. Doing it on the Wii U through emulation is far more logical, especially as the next handheld and console will absorb Wii U architecture and it has been implied/stated that VC will be there day one due to this.
  6. Still hoping for a Splatoon track. It would show even more faith in the franchise than amiibo already gives it, plus the new StreetPass Plaza hat.
  7. Will just tell my friend who has a preorder to bring his next time he's in town :p
  8. I want the Pac-man amiibo just for that costume haha @RedShell, I originally thought the whole ownership thing was the issue but now Sonic, Mega Man and Pac-man have representation, I have no idea.
  9. Accident. My apologies
  10. Pretty much. People complain about it, but Sony, Microsoft, Activision, Ubisoft etc. would all kill for IPs with the longevity and recognisability of Nintendo's. If all they did was annual Mario or Zelda, then people would have a point, otherwise no.
  11. I think that if New Super Mario Bros U was released, exactly as it was in terms of stages etc., but with a different aesthetic, many would be hailing it as the second coming, Many just don't give it a shot because of the look. It was 2D Mario platforming at its absolute best, especially with New Super Luigi U DLC

  13. Agreed. It's pissing me off. I may get some imported from Japan. They don't have shortages.
  14. It didn't destroy control sticks...it destroyed hands. My N64 control sticks are fine...my friend's hand, however, has a bit of scar tissue still :p
  15. We had a new game fully showcased for the first time ever in ShinMegaTen x Fire Emblem, as well as Wii U Virtual Console details of two new platforms held within, with four games available right after the Direct, plus details of the localisation of Fatal Frame 5 for Wii U and a Wii U download title in amiibo Touch & Play as well as details on DLC for two top Wii U titles. So yes, Rummy, they did. If you want many new game announcements, then wait until June 16th before you start bitching.

  17. I personally like how they're doing things and sprites for various characters in this game that weren't in the previous one. Super Mario Bros. style Wriggler & Thwomp. Thwomp was first introduced in Super Mario Bros. 3 and Wriggler in Super Mario World. At the end is a standard sized Bowser, too, so we'll likely see some Super Mario World and New Super Mario Bros. style look for it. Previously there was the concern that using certain things would result in it being incompatible with the style, but now we know better.
  18. I wouldn't expect so. 3D Mario is a different beast to 2D. 2D is logical and has set pieces...3D Mario games are much more open.
  19. One of the quotes in an investor meeting over the last two years implied the VC will be there, full, at launch thanks to the absorbing of the Wii U architecture. As for them "handling it better", you do realise that there's less than half a dozen viable Nintendo published NES and SNES titles remaining to be released, right? The holes that exist, like with the Wii U itself, are due to lack of third party support.
  20. It says not much information was given and what info there was shown was discussed in the Direct thread. Stop being a troublemaker.
  21. They don't just port the character. They have to update the model, new animations, moves, balance testing & tweaks etc. so yes, it is right for them to charge for it. They have a right to be paid for their work.
  22. Now we just need to complain until we have the Virtual Boy on the Virtual Console :p
  23. I wasn't saying for it to be the sole marketing, I was suggesting it could be used as one of many things.
  24. So, I was thinking, and I think this deserves its own thread outside of the NX one, the NX could truly be the console that celebrates the legacy of Nintendo, as well as bring its future. Last night, the Wii U finally, after 2 long years of waiting, got Nintendo 64 on the Virtual Console, and alongside that, it inexplicably got the Nintendo DS (which we have known was coming for about half a year), which means it has seven Nintendo platforms worth of games on it: NES, SNES, N64, GBA, DS, Wii and Wii U. The 3DS has two additional ones of GameBoy and GameBoy Color. Now, we know that Nintendo and Iwata have stated that the next console and handheld will share architecture and have the same OS, with them seeing the platform as being the OS, just with different form factors. They also said that it will absorb Wii U architecture and (from what I can remember, I can't find the specific quote), the new account system was discussed as bringing titles such as Virtual Console titles all out at launch straight away due to this. Thinking about it, the 3DS has received just 1 new Virtual Console title in Japan in the last year for the GameBoy and GameBoy Color. This leads me to think that they have shifted that focus onto developing GameBoy and GameBoy Color Virtual Console for the Wii U and/or NX. This was furthered a little due to a few Masterpieces in Super Smash Bros. running GameBoy ROMs of Dr. Mario, Kirby and so forth. This would mean that the GameBoy and GameBoy Color games purchased on the 3DS, thanks to the new account system, would also carry over to the NX. Now, if this does turn out as they planned and my GameBoy theory pans out, then the NX would be able to play everything except GCN and Virtual Boy, depending on how it manages Wii / Wii U / 3DS backwards compatibility. If we then assume that it's powerful enough to emulate the Gamecube games, this could potentially mean that the NX can contain the entirety of Nintendo's back catalog of games (licensing issues aside). This would be huge, and could potentially be used as a means to sell the console with part of the campaign being based on nostalgia. Anyway, that's my nonsensical rambling theory. What do you guys think?
