  1. I understand this forum seems to be pritty anti millitary, and i do not want this thread to turn in to a right and wrong thread about what the army, navy and RAF do. But what is happening to the ex Gurkhas is disgrasful. The govenment happily lets in people from all over the world who have given nothing to this country then gives them all the benfits that go with it. Yet the govenment is happy to shun these people who have there friends, brothers and sons to Britania. Firstly if Gurkhas were allowed to settle in this country not all of them would, many would return to Nepal. As they love there country but they should have the option. Secondly Gurkhas come from a totaly different world and culture and they would have to be in desperate desperate times before they would dream of claiming any benefits. Just a bit of information on the Gurkhas for people who do not know wha the hell a Gurkha is. Around 200 years ago when we were still fighting trying to expand India. The British army came up against the Gurkhas in what is now modern day Nepal. They were awesome fearless fighters and could not be defeated. The british army decided that if we coudnt beat them then we should get them on our side. And so the gurkhas were born. The regiment up until 1997 had its main base in Hong Kong. When this was handed back to china they were moved to Kent. Since 1997 any Gurkhas who have left have been able to settle in the UK and have been paid the same as any British soldier. Today Nepal is a very poor country. The british army takes around 150-200 gurkhas every year. 40,000 young men apply. The selection process is very very hard. The Gurkhas have fought in nearly every conflict the british have been involved in the last 200 years including the falklands, the gulf war, bosnia, the iraq war and in Afghanistan. Two Gurkhas died during the time i spent in afghanistan at the end of last year. They are famous for there Kukri which is a large curved knife they have histroically be known to fight with. In world war 2 tales of them leaving there rifles and just fighting with the kukri are not uncommon. The gurkhas are renowned by many to be the best soldiers in the world as they will follow orders exactly and many are fearless. The motto of the Gurkhas is better to die than be a coward. I know i have wrote a b it of an essay but it just really grips me that the govenment is geting away with doing this. And that many peope through no fault of there own do not know its going on. Please sign the petition http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/justice4gurkhas/ to allow all these brave men who were loyal to this country the right to live here.

  5. On balance though although this does seem harsh for the small ammounts overdrawn. But banks are a buisness andthere to make a profit. People are going to get a very big shock soon when banks will be charging you an ammount every month just to have a bank account. As free banking is no longer viable for them. Banks are usless when travelling abroad though. Being in the navy it is very fesable for me to visit up to 3 different countrys in a month. If you use your bank card like this they will cut it off. As they think it has been stolen. Do you knwo how hard it is to try and sort this out on the other side of the world whilst floating on a grey piece of metal. When you go in to a bank to try and stop this happening they say there is nothing they can do.

But before i buy. i was just wondering if anyone had any other set ups to recomend. Would idealy like 2 tall boy speakers and the rears to be the smaller type. Also on that LG set up it says it had a USB connection do you think that means i can play my ipod through it? Thanks for any comments in advance. And just to add. It will only really be used for movies and wii. And a bit of music. Im not a tech pervert either so it dosent need to be the best system money can buy just the best system for about £200. Wont be used that much either as i only live in my house at weekends.

  20. No not at all. Far from it. Just how can someone say its the govenments fault that they are in debt? I didnt go to uni. I chose not to. Wasnt the cost just wasnt what i wanted to do. I have no problem with people wanting to better themselves. All im sayig is gordon brown didnt just jump out of a bush and throw this debt at you and catch you by suprise. Im working towards a degree. Its just probably going to take me 10 years to get it. But its free and i get paid to do it.
  21. I know how big the debts are but Fex said that govenment had lead him. My point was that you all know you are going to get in to debt from going to uni. Im not slaging off Uni or students but you can not blambe the govenment for getting you in to debt.
  22. Please if you are clever enough to go to uni then you are big enough to take responsability for your own actions. Everyone knows that uni costs money. You didnt just sudenly wake uo with a shed load of debt you got yourself in to it. Now the reason a lot of people go to uni is that it will (or should) allow you to go further in life and earn more. Therefore you are just subsidising your own future. If on the other hand you did a degree on the history of chewing gum then its your own fault and you deserve to be in all the debt
  23. Em Car loan Insurance Phone bill etc T shirts (have some sort of strange t shirt fettish) DVDs Saving towards a house (not that im planning on buying one, just so that i can)
