Green Arrow was so bland. It was just Batman, but poorly written, and without any darkness or atmosphere. What diffrentiates this comic from anything else? Kinda crap. Unmemorable, uninteresting...Green Arrow was mildly interesting before because he actually had political thoughts and leanings, this was just a Batman rip-off. He has his own Oracle, his own Lucius Fox, runs a company but is always away... blah. Over it. Don't read it. Hawk and Dove I actually enjoyed! It's nothing exceptional, but it wasn't bad, at least. Leifeld's art didn't interfere. Not my fave aesthetically, but not offputting this time. Story was pretty standard and the characterisations nothing to write home about, but had me engaged. I'll be back to read more. (Maybe just the first few issues) Swamp Thing was stünning. It's just so obvious when things are good throughout this event - this series is taking it's time establishing things, slowly leaking out origin details, etc. It doesn't have to be laid out for the reader, give us some credit to be able to discern things ourselves...if you leave mystery and ambiguity intact, it leaves the audience/readers wanting more. What is there to come back to in Green Arrow? Oh, some shitly designed villains no one knows burst in to free the other shitly designed villains from jail...so what? Anyway. Yeah Swamp Thing was really good. With lovely Paquette art.

Justice League International

Disposable Heroes are so fucking slow. A week since Justice League came out, I still don't have it. And I'm sure I'll probs be back at uni by the time today's arrive. I might just buy stuff in person to avoid this shiteous delay, no matter the price. Detective Comics Blah. Was kinda off-put by the 'early years' feel of it all, like he didn't really know the Joker properly. I thought everything in the past was meant to have happened? Maybe it was just weirdly written. The art was potentially good, but usually wonky. Intrigued/grossed out by the last page. Not one to buy though. I hate the stupid lines on Batman's costume attached to his Bat symbol.

Anyone who doesn't like Arrested Development is an absolute bastard. To not like it is basically an unjustified hate crime. Sick.

I bet it's good. On that note I'm rereading Final Crisis for the first time since my first reading. Yesssss. I love so much. It is everything. I can't bear to think about the self-assembling hyperstory/infinite book of all books ever - it's too much. Such a great way to encapsulate this paper universe though. And I'm still so stunned by the idea/notion/concept of the Monitors being infected by exposure to narrative structure, gaining emotions/lives/endings/beginnings/motives without previously having any. Come on awareness of fictionality. It's so clear Morrison loves DC and all it represents.

Yeah fine.

Yeah, I had a moment (like an hour) of 'Oh I miss all my friends' when I went to uni. Not quite a breakdown. In fact my face probably remained exactly the same as usual, It was just sad thoughts, which I never ever have. Then I never had them again after than first (second?) night. You'll find your way, you just don't know it yet.

God no! I'm a huge Batman fan and have been reading Batman since I was like...8, he's just the only modern (as in last few years) Batman writer I've followed. But then he's been the one shaping the universe for 5 years so it's fine.

Yeah I disliked Magneto, but that was clearly the intention - his brotherhood basically spoke for the audience with their opinions as he grew madder/less reasonable. In Supergods he just says he did what he did on/with a purpose. So I accept it. Just not my favourite characterisation of a good character. I deal. People aren't saying great things about Detective Comics. You would probably be better off with one of the other Batman series. That said I don't read any Batman outwith Morrison's, so couldn't tell you what to pick up from the rest.

I love the schism/quest for the truth this has caused.

When my comics arrive, can I write something/a review/s/vLog about my thoughts? Or something like that.
-
What are other examples of comics like that (in your mind)?

Type it into the address bar yo

What do you mean 'upper class shit'?

I don't know who he is, but apparently someone whose opinion counts (as he's read all the new 52 no.1's.

I assume you're taking to me, but I can't be sure - the image works fine on my end. If you make the effort to find out which film it is, it'll be all the more sweet.

It was just there and I remembered my fave film theory tutor showed us a bit from it yonks ago, like shots of her running about as she narrated her deluded fantasies/something I recall being stunned by at the time. And I need to see more Terrance Malick films.

Saw One Day. Was what you expect. I like Anne Hathaway as an actress and she was good. So was Jim Sturgess, who I'd never heard of. Quite sad, like I was 2 tiers below tears by the end. I love Edinburgh as a setting. And my favourite thing was probably just seeing them go through the years, seeing the fashions and styles change.

@ReZourceman, Heroclix is everything. Chair and I have recently been trying out our new rules, and have started an epic JLA-based saga of linked battles with consequences. Hal Jordan just died, and Catwoman, Penguin and Brainiac/Lex Luthor duo just robbed his grave for his power ring. FUCK what will be the outcome?! [/child at heart]

I'm watching Batman Brave and the Bold again (random episodes that have characters I like in) and it's so stunning. I love how absolutely knowing and self-aware it is. Genuinely laugh out loud moments too. Just watched The Mask of Matches Malone, so great. When the BoP do that stunning musical number featuring barely veiled mockery of various DC heroes dick size. HOW did that get through?! Amazing. "Green Lantern has his magic ring, so much power that little thing" "Flash's foes always finish last, too bad sometimes he's just too fast!" "Green Arrow has heroic traits, that is when he's shooting straight..." "Aquaman is so courageous, his little fish - less outrageous." There's even a finger wagging at that bit lol. I loved when Catwoman just left the conversation. 'You two are useless.' *jumps off roof* 'Yeah well..you're...useless!' - Black Canary, pointing dramatically after her. *Huntress madonnagifs in the background* And I love the needless but ESSENTIAL teasers before each episode. I love Batman callying Poison Ivy a 'herbacious hussy'. This is the best series.

Justin Timberlake is an ok actor, he was good in Social Network and I read he's good in FWB. I watched No Strings Attached the other day, really dull/exactly what you expect. I get the impression FWB is the same story but done better.

Hey sluts. I want a graphic tablet of some sort, so I can draw things/sketch directly into photoshop/my Mac, and then mess about with stuff on there. I think it's hindering my desire to draw not being able to work with my sketches easily digitally. HOWEVER I know NOTHING about the tablets. I know no brands, average prices, etc etc. I'm sure there are ones appropriate for studenty types like me who want it for personal reasons, and there must be products for like CAD design peeps, which'd obviously be innapropriate for me. I know lots of people here are illustrators, like @Hamishmash and @Eenuh, but others too do design-y...stuff. Any help or recommendations? DANKE

I love the shock ending to the story.

What song(s) are you really into at the moment?!
Paj! replied to Aneres11's topic in General Chit Chat
There's something about this. Haunting isn't the right word, but something kinda ethereal. I like her diction/use of words in it. Nothing particularly new, but I like it. Also I LOVE that the producer of the backing track is credited as a featured artist...in the current climate of aping/sampling/stealing known-to-be-popular backing tracks to get a fleeting hit, at least Avicii is mentioned. I wasn't aware of the original song ('Penguins'), but now maybe more people will be. Well done, Leona.
