  1. I see absolutely nothing wrong with releasing the game in episodes, or selling it with slimmer content for cheaper price along with some optional downloadable features - this is indeed a smart, flexible model. The problem with NPFC for me is that these DLC teams are in fact just a lower difficulty setting, or a cheat. They offer very little actual content - just practice teams with specialised tactics and bunch of players. I see no reason to buy it - if I would do so for single play, it would likely just become easier, and I don't want that. Challenge is vital part of the game. I really like add-ons and expansions, but here there are virtually no added-on or expanded features. It just an added option allowing you to boost your player faster. This mindset just does not work well with unskippable matches... I know even Fire Emblem had such DLC battles with some neat bonuses, but in that game you actually participate in battles - they are core game element - and some other DLCs actually offer some extra challenge for elite rewards. I just wish there would be such purchasable content in NPFC as well (e.g. SuperCup).
  2. Must admit is a bit of a let down for me as well. Don't really mind, as I will probably focus on single player mode and play online only casually/for fun, but I think tournament/ranked play is the main driver for such DLC, works pretty much as purchasable items from premium shops in some free multiplayer games we all surely know I knew about DLC before the release, but hoped it will be realized in a bit more elaborate or attractive form (e.g. extra cups, new player types/training cards, multiplayer modes; you know, stuff that actually are new downloadable content, rather than just consumables/accelerators - reminds me of some annoying Most Wanted "DLC"s that only quickened XP/upgrade gains). Even if these teams are strong, they will be all the same most of the time, with same players, tactics, etc., so will be boring already after 3 or 4 games... Hope we will get proper DLCs and updates for NPFC in the future
  3. That's a pretty meaty bonus, don't you think? Not a big deal for single player (might be useful if things are getting rough), but for online matches it gives quite a major boost, comparing to those who will not buy and use it (gives around +50-80% more training cards for *every* non-league non-cup game).
  4. Hi @dazzybee, @Mokong, @Mandalore, @londragon, @tapedeck, @Ville - please add my FC back If you don't mind some combo spoilers, take a loon at this - http://pastebin.com/TwCcbNR5
  5. Game is now available! Anyone already played it or plan to do so today?
  6. Thanks a lot for quality responses, going to observe the latest Brawl installment closely from now on!
  7. Is it confirmed eShop only? I swear I read somewhere it is going to be boxed for EU as well...
  8. Some folk @ nintendolife pointed out currently operational Japanese portal for NPFC online games: http://calciobit.nintendo.co.jp/ Gives more or less an idea of what to expect for multiplayer matches after the release.
  9. Beautiful XL... Never played Persona game before (damn, so many great Japanese series I never played!), so it might be a good idea to start with a spin-off. Core games are also there on PSP, so might want to try those as well. Is Q going to feature some dating sim elements?
  10. Kirby! I really love this character (my Nintendo favorite, next to Yoshi), it's cheerful, inviting and over the top. I initially planned to get Yoshi's New Island, but did not have enough time back then - at least that game wasn't groundbreaking. This one looks beautiful... argh so many great games already there as well as coming to the 3DS!
  11. Really tempted to try this one... nice new shiny Etrian Odyssey. But never got into Etrian Odyssey before - should I play Millennium Girl first? Won't I get lost in IV being overly complex for series newcomer?
  12. Around 55 hours into Normal/Classic so far, only SpotPass missions are left for me before the End Game. Did quite a few mistakes and lost several shepherds (never played FE games before), but the game is really, really good - I don't think it is gonna beat my all time favourite FFTA2 (though it has DLCs - if they are cool...), but really was worth the money. Fantastic experience.
  13. Definitely gonna try the demo at least. Really liked the Classic Game Room review of the original DS version, but when I tried it it kept me unconvinced - too tough and too archaic in visuals and gameplay. The 3DS version is much improved though, so I will give it a try once again I think.
  14. Never tried Smash Bros games before, but I do enjoy solid fighting games (especially 2D - KoF!) and beat'em ups (Golden Axe!) - do you think this could be something for me? Are single player modes solid? Note I am not really into myriad of nintendo charaacters, never been a hardcore nintendo guy (e.g. can't stand pokemon games, and don't think Zelda games are that outstanding - though I do enjoy Mario Kart Wii and Fire Emblem quite a lot!).
  15. Looks interesting... always enjoyed a good dungeon crawler (especially roguelike - Dungeon of Dredmor is fantastic!), and really liked dating elements in Fire Emblem or some visual novel games. Not sure if I will have time to play it though - I really hope I will! Also, a demo would be sweet.
  16. Looking forward to it, gonna download the demo tomorrow! Never tried 3DS demo before, are these not to overly limited?
  17. Great, so it is indeed not bad at all then Just a question regarding the single player mode - are the teams and players (including CPU-controlled) randomized every time New Game is started, or they remain the same for each play-through?
  18. Cool, bunch of new stuff and a review are now online! Added you guys to my friends list, be sure to add me back, thanks! 0533-5967-6605 BTW - Sensible Soccer was more of a 16-bit game (it even got SNES/Mega Drive versions).
  19. Add me as a friend if you will Really like Fire Emblem: Awakening, and got Dead or Alive: Dimensions and Resident Evil: Mercenaries 3D for online play. Pretty sure to get and play Nintendo Pocket Football Club on day 1! (17th April). FC: 0533-5967-6605
  20. This is my main worry as well. Played Pocket League Story on Android recently as it was suggested by someone as being similar, and this one has some really too simplistic football management elements, as well as missing online features. It's a very pleasant experience overall, but plays more like a simple and fun sim/tycoon than proper manager. Hope NPFC will be a bit more in-depth.
  21. What do you guys think about the upcoming (17th April) Nintendo Pocket Football Club? To be honest this is currently the most anticipated 3DS title by me - really feels like a throwback to classic, simple and fun times of not too complicated, yet engaging and competitive football management games (like The Manager, Ultimate Soccer Manager, Premier Manager 3; even SWOS career mode and PES Master League). Nintendo Europe recently revealed official site for the game (can't insert it as have less than 15 posts), it confirms some of the game's main features (online modes are especially interesting from my perspective - really looking forward to play with you guys in ranking matches and tournaments!). It is nice such a relatively obscure title gets its own official site allowing for progress tracking, leaderboards and such (kind of reminds me of Hattrick). What are your expectations? Are you interested, getting it on day 1, waiting for sale/price drop, looking forward to playing online? If so, go ahead and add me to your friends list My FC: 0533-5967-6605
