They said they are working with Nintendo. Their lack of comment on the situation maybe be a hint (when the guys says "oui oui" anyone? Could be wii wii). But nothing is concrete.

With the amount they spent, did they need to hijack a companies name? They could have set their own up. Note - I didn't read past the first two paragraphs.

Scolari knows nothing of English football, see he won the world cup with the worlds greatest national team. Its not tough when you've got amazing players. I have thought about the whole thing, it has created a lot of hype that may have died. But surely it would be waste of time and resources, but then maybe the money spent on a fake name would be worth it, if the shock and a different name revealed created even more talk and a buzz. But I doubt it. Though I find the patent part very odd.

Pardon my ignorance, but under what language does wii have a meaning? Other than meaning we, but spelt in a way to look cool. Hell if they wanted, why not call it We. At least people will get the meaning. It's name not being in English doesn't concern me, the fact that casuals won't consider giving it a sniff because it sounds like toilet slang. And the company going down the pan (pun intended) concerns me.

What a dick. This is why I hate newbie rushes when big news is announced. Most of us who have mocked, are thinking about how this may affect Nintendo, not just by reputation either. Hell if we didn't like Nintendo or want to play the Wii, we wouldn't be so concerned.

Wii looks like a decent name. The appeal of seeing it on poster and all. Its not until you say it realise how bad it will sound in sentences. But I can see the marketing behind it, and if they are concentrating on 'we', as in good online play, thats surely a good thing.
