Been Insane
Ok, I live in Birmingham and it sucks. There is nothing to do here. The problem is my partners birthday is comming up and a trip into town does not sound like fun. So basically im looking for ideas. I was thinking of bringing her down to London for the day but i've never been there before so im not actually sure whats there or where to go for a decent day out. I'd really appreciate it if anyone can give me some ideas of somewhere decent to go. Also if anyone in London knows anything good to do down there please let me know. Shes had a shit year and id like to at least make one day of it fun Any help would be much appreciated, so let me hear those ideas......please
Blackfox
I made a thread in August about my trip to London. If i wasn't so lazy I'd link it, but try find it :p Basically, i listed everything i did in the day... now I wouldnt advocate doing all that in a day - becuase it absolutely wore me out. But yeah, there might be a few pointers in there for doing - sightseeing wise. Other than that... wait for the Londeners come online and post - there's bound to be plenty of awesome restaurants and stuff to do! As for travelling down - National Express do some pretty regular (and cheap) journeys. The train can be cheap if you book a few days in advance. The Underground is the best way to get around - all day tickets cost about £4 - well worth it.

Platty
Yeah for Cheapness Mega bus is good, i used it to get to the leeds festival last year, something like a £1 each way. But if you want comfortable then national express or the train. Anyway as for going out in London, it all depends on what you wanna do? Sightseeing? Museums? go out for a meal? go to a bar? If some sightseeing then i recommend doing the basics like Big Ben & Parliament, go up the mall to Buckingham palace, hang out at trafalgar square then go onto leicester square and then piccadilly circus. Perhaps go on the London Eye? If you are into art then you could go to the tate then get the boat to the tate modern which is a lovely little ride along the thames. Both of the tates are free entry but the boat costs about £2 - £3 to ride but is worth it. As for a meal head to leicester square/soho area, lots of lovely restaurants around there and if you're not sure where to go there is always the usuals like TGI's, Angus steak etc etc I you wanna stay in London and go out to bar/club or something then again i would stay around the leicester square/piccadilly circus/soho area. Lots of cool treny bars/pubs/clubs around there that might take your fancy. If you want any more help/info about anything just ask
