scubahood Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 Hi all recently formatted my pc just need to install the drivers for my video controller (vga compattible) only thing is I don't know what make it is or anything like that just wondering if there is a program that can tell me what I am running?
Bogbas Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 Can't think of a program that can do that. But you probably will find out what it is if you open the case and take a look at the actual card. But if it's integrated, you should find out the model of the motherboard and see what graphics chip it's using.
Mr_Odwin Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 There's a program available from driverguide.com that does just that. It makes you pay if you want to search for the drivers on their site, but in the app it shows what the device is so you can just search manually once you know the details. http://www.driverguidetoolkit.com/
Shorty Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 Sandra from SiSoftware might be able to tell you, not sure if it works before you install the drivers though.
Ollie Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 There is already a thread for this: http://www.revo-europe.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7850

If you just formatted it could well say "unknown device" or "vga device" or something like that, which wouldn't be very helpful although you may be able to update your drivers from devmgr online using right click (that doesn't work very often).

And thanks to Mr_odwin for the link. Just realised that I could use a program like that myself
