Sarka Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 My Windows damn Explorer keeps crashing, is there an alternative, or is it what I'm stuck with if I keep Windows? A graphical one is more preferred, I dunn oif I could get to grips with a text based one. Thanks
Dieter Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 This is off memory, but I used TotalCommander (i think it's that) for a while, it's fairly decent. Don't think it's free though. You'd best reinstall windows though.
Bogbas Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Or you could try just to re-installl explorer. If that doesn't work a windows re-install is in order.
CompSci Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Windows explorer is a integral part of windows, its the shell that sits atop of the o/s kernel, it is advised if the windows explorer is not functioning properly to reformat and reinstall windows
Mr_Odwin Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Download firefox? Windows Explorer not Internet Explorer.
DCK Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 When Windows Explorer crashes, that's usually a sign to reinstall Windows.
Yoshiking Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 I never use Windows Explorer. I only use the Run command, but maybe that's just me. It's much faster, just type in a directory and / and you've got the list of directories/files in that directory.
Sarka Posted July 31, 2006 Author Posted July 31, 2006 Damn it, ok - my brother wants to reformat the computer anyway - so as soon as we get a good external harddrive, bye bye faulty windows!
