Calza Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 I've not got much space left on my harddrive and was intrested in more space for all my anime. I'm just really asking what are the best ones at the moment as i'm going to the states soon (are they powered just by USB? or do they need their own power) and was thinking about getting one there. I'm thinking maybe 100GB or more but it depends on the price.
BGS Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 I can only recommend this which I already own It's pretty cheap, has shit loads of memory and is plug and play through usb although it does need to be plugged in to a socket. I've found it to be pretty much silent too, I never hear it anyway. It's been compatible with everything I've tried it with so far, PC or Mac and has never caused me any problems whatsoever. I use it for my iTunes library. ^_^
christophicus Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 you would be better off getting an internal HDD if you can.
Guest Stefkov Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 ive got this Seagate 250gb external one. its this: http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=48607&criteria=Seagate&doy=8m6 but mines a 250gb like i said. its exremely quiet. got that on for £89.99, but on the quiet thing i ont even know its on, all you notice is a green light, if you touch it you know its on
Calza Posted June 8, 2006 Author Posted June 8, 2006 Thanks, i wouldn't really want it external cause i have a few computers so they would all back up on to it and then it would just get plugged in to my main pc. This looks really good http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000F6RQ7Y/ref=br_lf_ce_2/202-1774245-1159869 Is it? EDIT : It's the Maxtor 3200 ( I don't like how amazon sometimes just gives a description instead of a model)
Colin Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 I know it's your topic Calza..........but does anyone know if you can get an external hard-drive and connect it upto a router via a network cable so any computer on the network can access it?
seamus_aran Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 Probably. It would suck if it wasn't possible. Do some research though as networks aren't really my stongpoint...
BGS Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 I don't know calza but I'd do some searching around to see if you can find any reviews about that hard drive. Never used it so I can't say and I never give a recommendation about anything I haven't personally used
Sarka Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 Sorry to bump an old thread but no need for a new one. Can anyone suggest a good and cheap hard drive. I'm looking at about 40Gb, any suggestions?
