Konfucius Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 In PAL regions we're dealing with 576 lines instead of 480. If I'm not mistaken the 96 extra lines is the time the TV needs to get back to the top and start writing again.
xernobyl Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 PAL 60 progressive scan (720*576@60) it's Wii's theoretical max resolution. It's good enough for anyone. You can check wikipedia's article on PAL or NTSC, or even SECAM, but they're all pretty technical for most of you
KingOfHyrule Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 PAL 60 progressive scan (720*576@60) it's Wii's theoretical max resolution. It's good enough for anyone. That's the thing though, will they have a PAL 60 PS mode, if they're only going to be using 480i/p as DCK is saying? EDIT: Hold on I'm confused - does this mean that all the PAL GCN games running at 60Hz aren't actually 576i, they're 480i? And Wii games will be the same?
Blue_Ninja0 Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 Are you sure? I think PAL games running at 60Hz look better than NTSC at 60Hz. I have both PAL and NTSC versions of Metroid Prime and PAL at 60Hz looks better than NTSC 480i (although Progressive is much better ) That's bacause PAL has a superior colour system than NTSC. Maybe that's the difference you'r seeing. The only time a NTSC game will look better than the respective PAL one is when the NTSC version uses the Progressive Scan or when you'r not using the 60Hz mode of your PAL game (note that a lot of games don't support 60Hz mode). So: NTSC > PAL 50Hz PAL 60Hz > NTSC NTSC with Prog. Scan > PAL 60Hz (i assume) Correct me if i'm wrong. Also note that some PAL tv's don't support 60Hz.
Kurtle Squad Posted June 3, 2006 Posted June 3, 2006 I'm just gonna go for a PAL one, just seems easier.
