Haver Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 Five illegal immigrants have been arrested under the Immigration Act while working as cleaners in the Home Office, it has emerged. The five Nigerians were working as cleaners in an office of the Immigration and Nationality Directorate - the Home Office department responsible for the removal of illegal immigrants from the UK. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2006/05/18/uimm.xml&sSheet=/news/2006/05/18/ixnews.html Irony!
gaggle64 Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 It certainly a bit much when Blairs threatening to deport everyone, seemingly just 'cause he feels like it.
mario114 Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 Surley the home office should be charged for giving employeement to them, just like any other company would.
Mr_Odwin Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 Surley the home office should be charged for giving employeement to them, just like any other company would. They probably just employ a cleaning company and they are the ones employing the immigrants. Edit: Read the story and that's exactly what it was. At work we have cleaners and it's not like you have huge chats with them. They arrive at about the time everyone else is leaving and it's not like "Hi, how are you, whereisyourpassportplease?" It's more like "cheers" as they empty my bin and that's it.
gaggle64 Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 The fact remains though, the Home Office has failed to succesfully identify illegal immigrants working in this country - if they can't find the ones working in their own offices, how good a job can they possibly be doing finding others elsewhere?
Arragaun Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 Gag, I think Odwin explained well enough why these folks weren't discovered earlier. It's not as if everyone employed by the home office is like, an Immigrant Finder Generale.
