irfman Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 Is it me or do people get spyware from visiting this site... i mean some of those ads on the main page might be the issue i don't know. Just wondering... and YES I do have a Firewall, Ad-Aware SE, Antivirus. Just wondering.
Fields Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 If you're getting pop ups or whatever while browsing R-E, I'm pretty certain it's not from this site. Something has probably already installed itself on your computer. That'll teach you not to download porn over P2P, eh? But I can't really help other than to tell you to use Ad Aware, Spybot etc.
irfman Posted March 30, 2006 Author Posted March 30, 2006 It only this site when I go on it I get a pop up... other sites dont do that. I used Ad Aware and still the same. Im using firefox btw... I think i might just change my internet security.
Fields Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 Maybe R-E just uses pop-up ads these days? In which case just tell FireFox to block them. But you should probably PM an admin/staff member, they'll know more than me.
Guest Jordan Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 We use pop up ads sometimes, just get a good web browser or a pop up blocker. However, there is no spyware on our site at all.
Eenuh Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 Yeah, I get an occasional pop-up on RE too; always the same one too about idiotic emoticons. And I think I do have a pop-up blocker, so I'm not sure why it even shows up. Meh. Don't think there's spyware though.
mike-zim Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 yeah i get the icon pop up i dont think it has anything to do with spyware
mario114 Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 I only get a pop up while visiting the news on this site, and thats because i thurned off pop-ups protection, while trying to get adjust some setting, but normally i don't get any pop ups any were.
Bogbas Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 I usually get a pop under while visiting the main site... Damn kerio run out of trial days so the ads aren't blocked anymore...
Charlie Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 Use Firefox or Opera and it will be able to block them.
Bogbas Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 I'm using mozilla at the moment. Can't be arsed to switch over to another browser... But I so rarely visit the site so it's not that big of a problem.
