DVD drive. region shit...

is there any way I can get around the super shit region lock on my dvd drive? I want to watch my imported ren & stimpy dvd collection...

Use vlc media player. And doesn't your dvd have a certain amount of times you can change the region? Or you could download anydvd which makes the dvd viewing software to skip the region check. Although using the vlc player might be a better option, as anydvd isn't free...

You can look up your drive here:

http://forum.rpc1.org/portal.php and see if you can re-flash your firmware with a region free one.

Or try this maybe:

http://www.doom9.org

Go to the downloads page, full software page and then the region free tools.

I've not tried either method though and flashing firmware can go wrong and break your drive forever. Yay!

have you changed your dvd region before? if not you are allowed to change it 5 times before it becomes permanent. You can change it in control panel.

Do not stoop to the level of copying or importing DVDs.

besides, unless you can point out that region 2 ren & stimpy dvd set...

Like CompSci said all you need is Anydvd by Slysoft running in the background. Allows you to run... well... any dvd :P
