Hero-of-Time Posted February 12, 2006 Posted February 12, 2006 Can someone tell me how to make it so that my pc displays Japanese writing correctly? All I can see is squares and other stuff. Do I have to download a programme or something? Thanks
Guest Jordan Posted February 12, 2006 Posted February 12, 2006 Thats an easy one, hopefully you're on XP. First you'll need your XP disk! Then go: Control Panel > Regional and Language options > language tab > install files for Eas Asian languages. Problem solved.
Hero-of-Time Posted February 12, 2006 Author Posted February 12, 2006 Thanks Jordan, worked like a dream.
Hero-of-Time Posted February 12, 2006 Author Posted February 12, 2006 Hmmm actually it didnt. Im trying to view this website correctly http://www.geocities.com/flatbushkidus/mh/ But it still comes up in weird lettering and shapes. Yet if i use babelfish to say put english into japanese that now works.
Supergrunch Posted February 13, 2006 Posted February 13, 2006 I think if you install the Japanese typing software as well, then everything will work. I have done this, but I can't remember how to... there are lots of tutorials on the net though.
fatnickc Posted February 13, 2006 Posted February 13, 2006 You could try downloading the Japanese language pack from Microsoft. It says you don't need to download it if you aren't 'installing the Global IME (Japanese) tool', but it does in fact work. You can download this from here.

That's right- its the IME thing that I've got, so you might want to install it anyway.
