Julius Posted June 18 Posted June 18 (edited) Year of the JRPG keeps trucking on! Quote The groundbreaking non-linear RPG Romancing SaGa 2, originally released in 1993 in Japan, makes its triumphant return in this first full remake, Romancing 2: Revenge of the Seven, coming to Nintendo Switch on October 24, 2024. Save Your Empire. Defend Your Legacy. Furious that mankind has forgotten their many sacrifices, the legendary Seven Heroes have returned as villains bent on revenge. As legions of monsters swarm the world, defend your legacy across successive generations as the ruler of the Varennes Empire. To prosper and ensure longevity, an empire must be built. With a devoted Royal Court overseeing the economy, technology, city construction, and magic, you can safeguard your empire's future for your descendants. The Free-form Scenario system offers a vast array of story experiences in response to your choices, and with the Imperial Succession system, you can select your main character from many playable protagonists to cultivate and expand your legacy, passing down powers, skills, and secrets to the next generation. Dcubed Posted June 18 Posted June 18 That is a proper badass subtitle. Kinda tempted to get it for the name alone.
Glen-i Posted June 21 Posted June 21 (edited) Hold up! So the original difficulty is the hardest one here? And this has an easier option, and an even easier option? OK, now I'm interested. I bounced off the original because of how brutal and obtuse it is, but having two easier options might just be what I need to enjoy it. Edited June 21 by Glen-i
Julius Posted September 3 Author Posted September 3 Here's a primer video on the game from producer Shinichi Tatsuke: Love videos like this. Doubt I pick this up myself anytime soon - got a looooooooot of 2024 releases I want to catch up on by year's end, and a goof number of those are already big ol' JRPGs - but badass title and good communication? Think this might be one of the better handled Romancing Saga marketing campaigns we've had in the last few years, so kudos S-E and team 1
Glen-i Posted September 20 Posted September 20 There's a demo available for this now. Which is great for me, so I can see if it's still far too difficult to be enjoyable! 1
Julius Posted October 19 Author Posted October 19 (edited) Developer message: Man, the premise for this one sounds cool, and the mechanic of passing on your powers and the challenge to the next generation of Emperors sounds really interesting. Again, another really great showcase for the game, really love how they've been communicating so much about the game in these short videos. Edited October 19 by Julius
