Cube Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 I have an AMD Semphron 3000+ pocessor (1.8GHz). However, windoes has suddenly decided that its a 800MHz processor (according to "My Computer" properties), and my laptop has been working really slowly. Does anyone know how to fix it? Thanks in advance Edit: I think it may be something to do with underclocking...note that this also happens when the laptop is running from a power supply.
Raining_again Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 Could the driver be corrupt? Check your device manager control panel > Admin tools > Comp management > Device manager Have you tried looking at the power settings on your laptop? Some laptops have their own power management, try that... or maybe Control panel > Power options...maybe theres something been changed there? Edit: Have you had any blue screens? It also could be that the power supply is damaged, and the computer isnt gettin enough power. I'm sure they get easily damaged, i've dropped mine god knows how many times
christophicus Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 try checking when you are copying a cd or something,it might just be the processors power saving messure.

Yeah i reckon its probs something as simple as that ya know. One wee change in a system setting can screw you up then its a nightmare trying to find it and put it right
