Mokong Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 I've been scratching my head over this for probablly months now. Whenever I try to run a system back up it never completes I keep getting an error saying "Unsuccessful backup. I/O device error (0x8007045D)" I've tried google and not really found anything that worked, tried running Chkdsk on both files as was instructed on Mirosofts Support site But that didn't work. Found other posts saying to turn off the restore point then turn it back on, didn't work either. Anyone here got any ideas? OS is Vista BTW if that helps
Ike Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 Found other posts saying to turn off the restore point then turn it back on, didn't work either. Did you try deleting your old restore points? Unless turning it off does that anyway.
Mokong Posted October 28, 2011 Author Posted October 28, 2011 Yeah it said turning off restore points would remove them automatically
Platty Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 Google told me this: Go to the system settings and uncheck the drives so they no longer create shadow copies (restore function in Vista). Apply the new settings to erase all existing shadow copies. Then reset by checking the boxes you unchecked. Now try to backup the whole computer again. It appears a shadow copy error is conflicting with the backup process. Once you delete all shadow copies (restore points) it will work. Make sure you have the most up to date windows updates for Vista. Apparently MS solved the issue?
Mokong Posted October 28, 2011 Author Posted October 28, 2011 Cheers Platty, I've done that numerous times before and it doesn't help. And MS must be lying cause I am fully up to date an obviously the problem isn't gone
Mokong Posted October 29, 2011 Author Posted October 29, 2011 Haha, was waiting for someone to say that.
Mokong Posted November 11, 2011 Author Posted November 11, 2011 Haha got it working again. Ran another Chkdsk yesterday on the C drive only then tried a back up afterwards and it finally completed... took it's sweet ass time but it worked
