heroicjanitor Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 I have the updated version, Mount and Blade: Warband. Wondering if anyone has played this/ what their thoughts were on it. I love the idea of being given a world map and the ability to build up an army and your renown. I still haven't gotten to the point where I have the right to rule and can abandon my current king, but I will... Soon! It's also so funny when you are being chased by another army that is almost the same speed as you. Running like hell is what it is all about at the start.
Nolan Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 Once you get a horse it's way fun to just traumatize everything. 80 villagers can't stand up to you as long as you keep moving.
heroicjanitor Posted April 6, 2011 Author Posted April 6, 2011 Yeah true I have been captured a few times, which sucks, but I have also rescued others who have been captured. They never rescue me the ingrates... Though my character is some sort of Houdini, always manages to escape within a week.
Rummy Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 Big bump! Apparently the series(Mount & Blade, Mount & Blade: Warband, Mount & Blade: Warband - Napoleonic Wars AND With Fire and Sword) are all going on steam for a grand total of £7.50(and sub-prices therein) up until Friday. I don't know anything much about the series though I've seen a few friends on steam playing it, and wondered whether it's worth a punt? What sort of game is it etc? From what I saw on wiki I thought I could be tempted, but what would you guys offer as strong/weak points? (gonna tag you both @Nolan and @heroicjanitor as you've played :p)
heroicjanitor Posted August 22, 2012 Author Posted August 22, 2012 I'd say it's definitely worth it for that price. There is a lot to do so you should get your money's worth. It also feels different and fresh (to me at least). There are a couple of problems in that training soldiers up takes a long time and it is not actually possible to keep a village you own from being ransacked in my experience. It is ransacked by 4 armies as soon as I leave for some reason. But yeah definitely worth it, a steal even. It was never a pretty game so the graphics dating since it came out aren't a factor for me. The multiplayer is really good too. Well I never played the multiplayer but my brother got a mod for it which was apparently the best thing ever.
Rummy Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 Graphics are generally lowest on my priority list for any game, so that's good to hear. I picked up the whole series, gonna try and play it in order and see, hopefully I'll love it as much as some others do! My mate said it's his most favourite game ever, and it's pretty top on his dad's list too! Hopefully not going to be disappointed.
