sam213 Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 When I am playing a game, the error message "a communication error has occurred" appears. Now the wii remote's light flashes on and off and even when it's on, the cursor doesn't move. I have tried syncing and unplugging. I even switched the batteries! Please help! If you know what the problem is then can you tell me what to do about it?
S.C.G Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 Dodgy sync switch inside the remote possibly as this same thing happens to me as I use third party rechargable batteries which stay in the remote and have an extender button on the outside so that you can sync without opening the battery compartment. Occaisionally I accidentally push the button without meaning to though and it basically does what you've just described to me however I assume that you are just using normal batteries which would seem to point towards the sync button inside being defective. Solution? quite honestly just take the remote back to where you bought it, assuming it's recent you should still have the reciept, if it was the one that came with your Wii then don't worry about it, take just the remote to wherever you bought it from - with the receipt if possible - explain what the problem is - dodgy sync switch - if you bought it from a non-games shop then they probably won't have a clue what you're on about so you may need to explain this to them but if it was bought from a Game shop then should be nps. Anyway I hope this helps, this is basically the only advice I can offer as it really doesn't sound like a problem that's worth fixing if it is the sync button and I would say that you are fully entitled to a replacement, it's not like there's a shortage of Wii remotes in shops.
Rummy Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 I tend to only get that communications have been interrupted when the batteries die/wiimote turns off. I second S.C.G's sentiments though, it sounds as if it could be unfixable, or at least take a bit of work to do so. Attempting to obtain a replacement sounds the easiest solution. Have you only one wiimote? If you have more than one does it happen with any others also? If it does then it is unlikely the wiimote itself at fault.
Cube Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 Speaking of Wii Remote problems. One of my Mum's Wii Remotes has an odd bug. The pointer only works when the Wii Remote is upside-down.

Narohodo... So to prevent this error from occurring, you just simply need to re-sync your WiiMote to your Wii? Would it be just the one time or is it every single time you use the mote+nunchuk (playing a game)? I too am a victim of purchasing a cheap third party battery. And I also get these error messages. My mate experienced the same thing but said that he drilled a hole (which he done superbly) where the sync button was in order to reach it with, perhaps, a matchstick or toothpick. ... Now I know why there's a hole in MY battery when I first ever used it. I need to get around to buying me some official rechargable batteries but I haven't been fully engaged in any Wii games lately.
