CooInTheZoo
Hi I wanted to have a go colouring people in like on The Modern's website (who are a very cool band too) http://www.the-modern.co.uk/ How would i go about using an effect like this? I thought i could go into Greyscale and then use colour with a mid opacity but the colours all come out shades of grey. im using paint shop pro, and am very simple. any help would be appreciated. Konfucius
That's the problem with greyscale, everything is greyscaled. Whenever I have to greyscale something in Photoshop and have to add coloured things later I just greyscale it, open a new window an copy the greyscaled thing in there, then I can add colours. Hope that helps.

Lammie
Try desaturating the image (Ctrl + U) then playing with the Levels histogram (Ctrl + L) to get a stronger contrast within the image. Then add a new layer and fill in areas that you want to colour and set a layer mode (Overlay etc) to blend with the greyscale image.
