RP2A03 Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 This interesting little tidbit has come to my attention a few days ago and has been bothering me ever since: In SMW if you have found all 96 goals in each of the three save files the demo is changed. If this changed demo is allowed to play, Mario eventually dies and the player is allowed to play the demo level which is a shorter version of "Groovy" with no exit gate. This, conveniently, only works in the PAL version of the game. Since I live in NTSC Land this is a bit bothersome for me to prove myself so I figured I'd try shouting across the Atlantic. Does anyone here know if this is true and if so what changes occur to the demo besides Mario dying?
Strange Cookie Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 (edited) Hmmm, can't say I've ever heard of of experienced that one before, and I'm a SMW-nut. I'm cautious when it comes to secrets where you have to eg. have three full save files (it seems a bit too much trouble for such a small reward) and it's listed on only one site as far as I can see, but I can't say I've debunked it for myself. For the moment, I'd say it likely a hoax, but I've been wrong before... And it's not on Youtube. If it ain't on Youtube, it's not real. Edited August 2, 2010 by Strange Cookie
nekunando Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 I have 2 complete save files on my SNES cartridge.. and I've been considering playing through Super Mario World again recently If I do, I'll let you know if I find anything..
Strange Cookie Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 I have 2 complete save files on my SNES cartridge.. and I've been considering playing through Super Mario World again recently If I do, I'll let you know if I find anything.. Then go forth, Nando, in the name of Truth, Peace and Awesome Games! Play through it one more time for the greater good! Your unselfish sacrifice will be remembered for threads to come.
nekunando Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 (edited) I played a lot of this before and after work today.. and I currently sit with 82 exits found With that in mind, I expect to have it completed tomorrow after work I'm so close I'm a little tempted to end it all tonight I did happen to notice something on this playthrough, though, that I have somehow never realised before I have only just discovered that red dots on the map screen show levels which have more than one exit whereas the yellow dots only have a single exit! I just never really questioned the colours before EDIT I just ended up finishing it tonight while I waited for some discs to burn on my PC.. and here is the picture to prove it Today felt a little bit like participating in our very own GameTrailers' Pop Fiction series.. but the result is, unfortunately, negative (as expected, really ) ..nothing happens Having said that, it has been a good few years since I played through Super Mario World.. and it is still awesome Edited August 2, 2010 by nekunando
RP2A03 Posted August 3, 2010 Author Posted August 3, 2010 Thank you / nando /, now that I know, I can sleep easier at night. There is, however, a slight difference in the acknowledgment of a fully completed file. We get a star!:awesome:
NRGUK Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 a star... woo! Shame this was a hoax, but as people said it was kinda always going to be...
