flameboy Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 Need to split my 20ish min Lethargic Gamers Show episodes in order to fit on youtube. Movie Maker is a pain in the arse because if you import the video as a whole it splits it into a ton of little pieces and all the transitions etc... are lost...
Ten10 Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 Well with movie maker you could then reconstruct it into 10 minute slots. I would say try media coder but its got quite a learning curve, so next best thing would be to try something from AVS media: http://www.avsmedia.com/ Not sure which one will get the job done, but I would say the video editor package would be your best bet.
flameboy Posted October 20, 2009 Author Posted October 20, 2009 ok cheers...yeah it has does have clear segments so could split that up.
DuD Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 hjsplit is pretty good. Its freeware and is only about 180Kb. You tell it what file size you want, then it splits the file into equal parts. The last segment will be whatever of the file is left over (sort of like a remainder when dividing).

WIll it divide it based on length rather than file size?
DuD Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 No.. Sorry fella, it just does it by file size. If you know how long the file is in time though, i'd assume half the size would give you half the time..?
Shorty Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 But does Hjsplit leave you with two playable video files? Or just two files which can be rejoined?
Mr_Odwin Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 I would use AVIDemux. Set the audio and video to copy, then no re-encoding will be done. Use the slider tool thing to cut first or last part accordingly.
DuD Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 But does Hjsplit leave you with two playable video files? Or just two files which can be rejoined? I've never used it to do something like this, but i just checked and it does cause some problems. The song i split said that it was still it's original length when i opened it in windows media player, but it did play and it did stop at the right point. Another thing i noticed is the song can't be seeked through. So it does have issues but it does work.
