Shorty Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 Hi guys, I've been trying to get my PC to play through my HDTV but I'm not very happy with the picture. Basically I have a HDMI cable running from my graphics card to my TV (a 27" HDTV). I set the resolution to the highest but everything looks really messy and squashed, text is broken and hard to read and the rest is blurry. I have tried it on every resolution that Catalyst Control Centre and Windows Display Properties will allow, but they all look squashed and ugly and don't even fill the screen. The thing is, I can connect my little netbook to the TV using a basic VGA cable and the picture is perfect... so why can't I get a good picture via HDMI? Would appreciate any help
S.C.G Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 Hmm very odd... the only thing I can think of is maybe cut out the Catalyst Control Centre bit? I posted a question about it before and quite a few people seemed to say that Catalyst shouldn't be used for some reason it might not be relevant to this situation though but just thought I'd mention it.
Noodleman Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 Check your T.V's native resolution (google for the model number) and set it to that. See if that makes any differance.
Shorty Posted August 23, 2009 Author Posted August 23, 2009 Thanks, that helped a bit, I looked up my native settings and forced the display to use a closer resolution, which helped a bit. Then I forced it to use a closer refresh rate and that helped even more
cotz Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 try to use first your Svideo (Pc to HDTV)if it works better then you can proceed to next step, direct cable of HDTV wires..
Shorty Posted September 4, 2009 Author Posted September 4, 2009 The problem is I bought a 5m HDMI cable because that's how far apart the screen and monitor are, and I don't have a S-Video cable that long I'm happy with how it's working now though, so it doesn't really matter anyway
Blue_Ninja0 Posted September 6, 2009 Posted September 6, 2009 Are you using clone mode? I don't think you can use that and get a pretty picture because of the messed up resolution that has to be shared to the 2 monitors. It will either look good in one or the other. Use expanded mode instead. You can set up individual resolutions for the 2 displays. It works perfectly for me.
