flameboy Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 Specifically South Africa. What are my options? T-Mobile don't really offer great roaming options on my current tariff which is flex. Are there any pay as you go options that give good roaming options? I thought Vodafone but their new sim cards that have abolished roaming charges don't include SA. Is it perhaps better to get a mobile when I'm there. It's mostly to send the odd text to home really...not a lot else.
Ten10 Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 (edited) Lyca mobile is a P&G world wide operator. I think sims cost between £2-5 check them out Edit: on second thought not so great as they are clocking at around £1.26ish a min. Apparently on T-mobile you can sign up to their world class subscription service which cost £2.50 a month but reduces your costs by about 30%. At any rate it might be worth reading through this page: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/phones/cheap-roaming-calls#switch Edited June 22, 2009 by Ten10
Cube Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 I think the best option would be to take your phone but have it off at all times (unless there's an emergency) and use internet cafes/WiFi hotspots for contacting home.
