I've just finished Paper Mario on the GameCube and last month I played through Paper Mario on the Wii. I don't know your thoughts but I preferred the Thousand Year Door to Super Paper Mario. The classic RPG style battles on the TYD was better and I found SPM just started to drag after a while with all the card collecting (YES I DID COLLECT EVERY DAM CARD) and constant trips from Flipside to Flopside.

Has anyone played the N64 version, I do plan to buy it but at £35-£50 on E-bay it isn't cheap. I just missed a copy at my local car boot as I saw to my horror someone buying a boxed version for a few pounds :weep:

I'm sure there was a thread about this before.. but I agree, The Thousand Year Door was far superior.

Also, the N64 version is available on the Virtual Console for 1000 points  ..save your money and go and download it on the Wii instead of getting it on ebay : peace:

Don't bother wasting money on the N64 version after you've played TTYD. That's what I did (got it on VC) and while it is still a brilliant game it doesn't quite have the length, the brilliance and the options of the GC version.

SPM isn't really the same as PM because it's a different genre. Haven't played it though.

Still try Paper Mario. I played for the first time after TTYD and its still an amazing game. Also, do get Super Mario RPG on the virtual console if you haven't played that yet, its amazing.

Definitely, indeed if we are throwing Super Mario RPG into the equation then the order goes like this...

SMRPG > PMTTYD > PM > SPM

The original is most definitely in this case the best. : peace:

I will get Paper Mario and fully plan on getting Super Mario RPG but I will get them on cart not VC. It's just the collector in me wants them on the original carts with a box and manual lol I know is just chucking money away buy hay. One day i will post a pic of my near 200 SNES games pile it's getting big :bouncy:

PMTTYD > PM > SPM

:heh:

I'd agree with that, but not Super Mario RPG, just nostalgia. Whatever you do, just forget about buying M&L Partners in Time. It's poor.

It's not really nostalgia as I played them all out of order, first was PMTTYD then SPM followed by PM and most recently SMRPG; for it to be nostalgia for me I would have needed to have played it back in the day.

Anyway it's just purely subjective opinion, Super Mario RPG is in a different league to the Paper series - which are basically spiritual sequels but not quite the same - as for Mario and Luigi, again these are not quite in the same league as even the Paper series - they are kind of a cross between SMRPG and Paper - but they are still invariably entertaining and have some very enjoyable bits in them, granted though SS > PIT. : peace:

While Super Star Saga had a few flaws, in my opinion its probably around 2nd best out of all the Mario RPG games.

Just so you know. Super Mario RPG wasn't released on the SNES in Europe. Although I don't know where you're from, or if you have an import console if it is a PAL region.
