Esequiel Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 My TV is: http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&catalogId=1500001151&productId=1500249971&langId=-1&engine=froogle&keyword=Wharfedale+42in+1080+Digital+Tv+plus+HTK My PC is: http://www.comet.co.uk/shopcomet/product/469904/ACER-ASPIRE-X3200/tab/specification#spec I need to get the display to 1080 x 1920, but i have no idea how to do it >.< HELP PLEASE!?!?!? ^^
Emasher Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Actually the resolution would be 1920x1080. Assuming your TV isn't on its side. It will be in the Display settings (Not sure exactly what they're called) in your control panel.
Esequiel Posted October 20, 2008 Author Posted October 20, 2008 Thats what i thought but 1920 x 1080 makes it look weird, everything is really really small >.> Im running vista 64 bit if that makes a difference?
DCK Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 That's the whole point... 1920x1080 is sharp as hell, stuff is meant to be tiny... If you want to read text, you should search for "resize fonts" in the Control Panel.
Shino Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Lol, always annoys me when I see people with TFT screens and resolutions below their screen's native, just because it looks small.
Emasher Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Is your TV actually 1080p. Or is it 720p? If so, you want 1280x720. Otherwise, you're at the right resolution.
Esequiel Posted October 20, 2008 Author Posted October 20, 2008 Well it just does not look right at 1920 x 1080, half of the bar is missing along the bottom, and the icons are off the left and right of the screen. Iv put the display at 1176 x 664 and that at least puts everything on the screen >.>

Especially when people set it at school and you have to use a command line utility to change it. What you need to do is put it at 1920x1080 and use the auto feature in the picture settings.
Esequiel Posted October 20, 2008 Author Posted October 20, 2008 >.< My only problem being i cant find an auto option >.<
Emasher Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Refer to your TV's manual. I'm sure there is one. And if there isn't you could try playing around with the settings yourself. There might also be a "Picture Reset" option you could try.
RoadKill Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 What cables are you using? VGA or DVI to HDMI? something worse? TVs still tend to overscan when using non-digital connections
