Speedgamers Metroid Marathon for charity!

Recommended Posts

Currently, there is a Metroid marathon going on, where people are playing Metroid games for 72 hours straight, trying to raise money for charity. So far they've raised over $2000 for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The marathon is streamed live from their website at:

There is also a chatroom where you can post and ask questions, or just chat to other fans. There are also prizes given out for people who donate, the grand prize is a signed copy of Metroid Prime 3 Corruption from Retro studios who have kindly offered the prize.

For more information, check out the website and offer your support.

What game are they playing now? Last night it seemed like the first prime.

The apparent order being:

Metroid, Metroid Zero mission, Metroid II: Return of Samus, Metroid Prime, Metroid Prime 2, Metroid Prime Hunters, Metroid Prime 3, Super Metroid and Metroid Fusion.

Yet it seems like they're playing Metroid II, because I know Super Metroid and Fusion having da betta grafix than this.

Yeah I've been watching it for the past coupla hours. They're raped the 5k mark, and going to get the secret message in Fusion after playing II.

EDIT: They've just started playing Fusion. I know it's for a good cause but the dude playing hasn't got a clue. It's like he has never played a Metroid game in his life.

Big up people.

They raised just over $6000 by the end [$10 of that from your humble fabulous] The last hours were spent getting 100% on Super Metroid in a little over 4 hours, but there was some deaths resulting in some major backtracking at points.

It was actually the most successful marathon they've done. The Mario one that you mentioned was by someone else. To be fair, it doesn't matter how much they raised. They were dedicated enough to do it for a deserving charity, that was helping children with cancer.

Congrats to them anyway
