Retro_Link Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 First details of Quantum of Solace/Casino Royale: http://www.cubed3.com/news/10204 Bond is back, and this time courtesy to Activision. The first details of the company’s debut game, Quantum of Solace, have surfaced. The publisher acquired the bond license back in 2006, and the second entry in the Bond “reboot†marks Activision’s first entry into the series. There’ll be multiplatform support, including Wii – running off the Call of Duty 4 engine. According to CVG, the latest issue of GamesMaster magazine features a nifty preview. To make up for a lack of a Casino Royale game, there’ll be levels from both films, although only titles from the former outing have been shown so far. Much like EA’s Bond variety, there’ll be a shift between first and third person elements, to “remind players they’re being Bond.†A cover system, compared to GTA IV, again mixes the two gameplay styles. For action sequences, for example climbing ladders and walking along ledges, it’ll again jump into third person. A version for DS is also in the works. More details can be found in issue 200 of the magazine from Wednesday June 4th 2008.

welsh_gamer Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 MI6.co.uk The first sneak peak at the debut James Bond videogame from Activision can be seen in the latest issue of GamesMaster magazine in the UK. Although not released until Wednesday, details have already leaked out on "Quantum of Solace: The Game". The preview re-confirms the earlier announcement that the game will use scenes from both "Casino Royale" and "Quantum of Solace", as first reported on MI6 last year. The game starts with the opening scenes of Daniel Craig's first 007 adventure - "Casino Royale" - in Madagascar chasing down a terrorist through an Embassy and then a construction site. Similar to EA's "Bond Moments", there are a multitude of action set-pieces which are completed by pressing a fast sequence of buttons as flashed on the screen. This method, as perfected by the popular title "God of War", is first used during the construction site chase to have Bond leap from crane to crane. According the preview though, Sebastian Foucan does not reprise his role with his likeness as the free-style runner packing a bomb in his rucksack. Throughout the game, the system is used to take down enemies quickly or with stealth. The game engine (previously reported to use Activision's "Call of Duty" code) is primarily a first-person-shooter (FPS), but can switch in to third-person-perspective when Bond uses cover or stealth moves. The cover system is said to be akin to that of "GTA IV". Bond will not be able to get behind the wheel of any vehicles in this game. Previous 007 game licencee EA shifted from FPS to third-person in their best-selling game "Everything or Nothing", but this new title from Activision will be the first Bond game to blend the two popular styles. The success of this hybrid will largely rest on the camera AI. Enemy AI is said to feature flank tactics and also communication between them, with their reflexes and skill improving with an increasing difficulty level - rather than simply adding more goons to missions. Like the oft-lauded "GoldenEye 007", stealth will play a key role in some levels where setting off an alarm will make completing a mission incredibly difficult. The game will be roughly split between the two films, but all of the poker action from "Casino Royale" will be consigned to cut-scenes. Set-pieces in and around the hotel will be slightly expanded to give the player more action. Bond's naked torture scene at the hands of Le Chiffre is also said to be on the cutting room floor in order to secure a lower rating for the game. Understandably, the first screen shots from the game are all from the "Casino Royale" levels, so as not to give anything away about the new film "Quantum of Solace". Locations will include: London & outskirts (UK), Venice (Italy), Lake Como (Italy), Siena (Italy), Montenegro, Austria, Miami (USA), Madagascar, and Bolivia. Development studios are confirmed as Eurocom, Treyarch, Beenox and Vicarious Visions. The game will be released this Fall. Treyarch are understood to be heading up development on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles, with Beenox producing the Nintendo Wii version, and Vicarious Visions working on the hand-held platforms. Eurocom are understood to be developing the PC version. Last November, Activision confirmed a second 007 title was also under development, later rumoured to be a racing game. Very excited here. Everything or Nothing proved that a Bond game could work in the third-person-perspective, but having both that and FPS mode's is brilliant.

The film was 12+ and I believe that because this game has guns in it that this game will be 12+ also(i mean cmon metroid was) So basically If it had the torture scene it would go to 15+? I think thats bull why should the game be any different to the movie. ugh..

All Bond movies have been 12+, and Goldeneye, which had very little blood, and no nudity recieved a 15+ on the N64. Imagine the reactions on a game with nudity in it. It would go 18+ just like that. Not even GTA or Postal contain nudity.
gaggle64 Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Eugh, EoN was turgid. Bond games have such a terrible record, even Daniel Craig hates the Bond games, up to the point of trying to wrestle out of having to lend his voice and likeness to this one. Also, could they not at least keep the torture scene. It's what the Wii waggle was invented for!
welsh_gamer Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 What would be the point in having the torture scene playable? Bond is tied up during it all. They will probably include it in the story, but just show it happening with shadows, behind a door, or off-screen.

Is it no wonder that parents don't take the ratings seriously if they are ALWAYS high. Eugh, EoN was turgid. Felt shoddy in every way and the 3-4 player is a joke. but bond games and nowhere near as bad as most film licenses
