Now that i have got my wireless router.. and D-link ethernet card (this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00004SYNX/qid=1131973215/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i1_xgl/202-6710207-0095020 ) ... i have a slight idea of how to install the card but there is a wire coming off of it. Now i know i have to open up my computer to install the card in a spare slot but what do i do with the wire that comes off of it. The instructions say its a WOL cable but not much else... Please help me!

It's not necessary to connect the WOL cable. It's only if you want to remotely wake up your computer out of sleep mode (Wake up On Lan). Chances are you'd never use it anyway if you connected it up.

Lammie is indeed 100% correct.

You really shouldn't be able to fuck anything up inside your computer just fitting an ethernet card.

Just do everything carefully and if you have to use excessive force, you're probably doing it wrong ;)

And hold everything by the edges.

Also, not that I've ever known anyone to damage anything by not being earthed, earth yourself before and during installation. Just touching something metal will do.

Ye..Urm....well something metal thats earthed. A pot or pan in the Kitchen won't do much. All you need to do is touch a radiator. Or a water or gas pipe.
