Nintenchris Posted November 14, 2005 Share Posted November 14, 2005 Now that i have got my wireless router.. and D-link ethernet card (this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00004SYNX/qid=1131973215/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i1_xgl/202-6710207-0095020 ) ... i have a slight idea of how to install the card but there is a wire coming off of it. Now i know i have to open up my computer to install the card in a spare slot but what do i do with the wire that comes off of it. The instructions say its a WOL cable but not much else... Lammie Posted November 14, 2005 Share Posted November 14, 2005 It's not necessary to connect the WOL cable. It's only if you want to remotely wake up your computer out of sleep mode (Wake up On Lan). Also, not that I've ever known anyone to damage anything by not being earthed, earth yourself before and during installation. Just touching something metal will do. Just touching something metal will do. Ye..Urm....well something metal thats earthed. A pot or pan in the Kitchen won't do much. All you need to do is touch a radiator. Or a water or gas pipe.
