Pancake
I just tried to install Viva Pinata and it alerted me that my processor wasn't running at full power (or was it speed), and to check if i wasn't running anything else that might cause it to operate on a low power setting. But i'm not running anything, anything at all. Is there a way to check your porcessor power settings and/or adjust them?
Ten10
Is this on a laptop? Some laptops have various different power options. Because different power options will reduce processor performance to increase battery life. If it is the case try changing your performance to a entertainment or maximum power based setting. If it is on a PC then I'm not too sure.
Pancake
Nope, it's a PC.
Raining_again
Worth checking the BIOS settings? (I'm not sure tbh, but it's worth looking to see if your motherboard hasn't underclocked it.....maybe...power issues?)
Sanchez
Are you sure it isn't your graphics card giving that warning?
Ten10
Although its used mainly for checking temperatures that your system is outputting it can also tell you what clock speed your processor is actually running at mobmeter What sort of specs does your system have? Pancake
It was definitely the a processor warning, and here's the exact message: And my system specs:
Sanchez
I suspect viva pinata is being a retard and you should just ignore it.
McPhee
Ignore it, your CPU is probably in power saving mode. It will underclock itself to save on power when the full clock speed isn't needed (i.e. 99% of the time). If the game runs then there's no problem. Pancake
I suspect viva pinata is being a retard and you should just ignore it. Lol. Thanks guys. The game IS stuttering along though, and then crashing. Time for an upgrade...
McPhee
Start > Run > Type "DXDiag" > Hit Enter > Click "Save all information" (or something like that) Post the results up here. It would well be another part of your computer rather than the CPU.

Em, here's the first page of it if that's any help. I'm actually just beginning to think it's all because my comp just isn't good enough. The min RAM is 1GB, and that's what i have. Sanchez
What's your graphics card? It will say in the "Display" tab.
Pancake
I'm assuming "chip type" is the name of the graphics card? Here it is anyway:
Sanchez
yeah that's probably your problem, very borderline meeting the specs. System Requirements: OS: Windows XP SP2, or Windows Vista Processor: 1.8 GHz Memory: 1 GB RAM, 10 GB free hard drive space Video card: NVIDIA 5900, ATI 9600, or above
Pancake
Oh... damn.
McPhee
The first warning is because the CPU was in power saving mode (it switches out of it when needed). The stuttering is because the graphics card isn't good enough. I had an X700 in my laptop, it could barely run Rome: Total War. The X600 is slower and Viva Pinatta has higher system requirements than Rome.
Pancake
Oh. It doesn't even list the graphics card requirement on the back of the case though, just the video card. Dammit, They should list the graphics card.

Pancake
God... as if computing isn't complicated enough, they have to do stupid things like name stuff twice.
