MoogleViper Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 Can anybody recommend me some decent PC speakers. I don't want to be paying out of the arse for them. Preferably no more than £30.
Raining_again Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 cant go wrong with good old logitech ^^ Linky!(£29.99)
MoogleViper Posted April 10, 2008 Author Posted April 10, 2008 I've looked at that before. I'd like it but I have no idea where I would put the subwoofer. I could put it under the desk but it may/most definitely end up being kicked and used as a foot rest. How durable are they? Also I don't have a sound card. Will that matter much?
AeroScap Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 Ahhh dude! Those are totally the ones I am using atm! I do totally use the subwoofer as a footrest and its VERY durable! The sound on it is great! especially with bass! So loud that air could be shot out in blasts at 3/4 volume! I got those speakers when they first came out! about 4 years ago! Even the wires at the back of the speakers come undone but with a quick patch up the sound is still as good!! Very good value speakers imo!
Problematique Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 That Logitech set ain't great I hear. The Creative ones are apparently better sound quality (as much as I dislike that company). And my subwoofer's great, amazing footrest :p still going after 4 years although I'm replacing them with some overly expensive 2.1s soon cause I'm an audiophile.
MoogleViper Posted April 10, 2008 Author Posted April 10, 2008 What about a sound card? Does it matter that I don't have one?
Raining_again Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 What about a sound card? Does it matter that I don't have one? You'll have an onboard sound card... The newer motherboards (you have a new pc afaik?) have pretty decent ones.

McPhee Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 Does it have a headphone port on the back? If yes (which is 99.999% likely) then it has a soundcard or onboard sound. As for the speakers, those Logitech ones or ok. Im using them at the moment and for £30 they're pretty good, just wished i'd paid the extra £20 for a pair of Z4s as they're amazing! I gave my parents a set for christmas and they really do show the X-230s up. But yeah, for £30 the X-230s are pretty much the best around.

Raining_again Posted April 12, 2008 Posted April 12, 2008 It has one on the front. You'll probs find there's one on the back as well If you bought your computer within the last 3 years it WILL have onboard sound at the very least. TBH its not worth a seperate sound card unless you are stupidly picky about music, or you have a load of dosh to spend
MoogleViper Posted April 17, 2008 Author Posted April 17, 2008 My speakers have arrived and the sound quality is excellent. For £30 they are amazing. Thank you R_A and McPhee and everyone else in helping me with everything computer related. I love this forum.
