Shorty Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 My girlfriend's laptop clock is always slow. After fixing the time, it will still lose several minutes every day. I am using Vista and have set the time to sync with various servers, but the sync isn't very regular and very often fails. In a week or so it'll usually be half an hour behind. I don't know much about laptops, is this normal? Is there anything I can do about it?
Guest Jordan Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 This is a difficult thing to fix in a laptop. Basically, in a PC/laptop there is a small battery (like a watch battery) thats replaceable. It keeps the time and settings from the BIOS. Its fairly obvious this thing needs replacing. They're really cheap... you just gotta find the thing on the motherboard first.

Jasper Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 i don't think it's the battery, you clock would reset if it didn't work.
Shorty Posted January 8, 2008 Author Posted January 8, 2008 It really shouldn't be the battery, the laptop's less than 6 months old and gets average usage
Jasper Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 Yeah but the problem is: the only hardware components necessary for the clock is actually the battery. If it's not the battery, you can bet it's software...
