Dante Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 With 2007 sales record being broken from all angles, video game sales are at an all-time high. In fact, last week's sales were the biggest for the UK ever. Up until last week, 2007's total number of units sold was up 16.6%, or 25.3% by value. Chart-Track, the stat-tracking company for video games in the UK, stated that by the end of 2007, software sales will be around 78 million in the UK, crushing last year's record breaking number. During the last week, video games generated sales of £87.9 million. In the third quarter of the year (July - September), software sales were up 19% compared to 2006, from 12.61 million to 15.03 million, with revenues up 36 percent to a huge £332.6 million. ClubSkills
Hero-of-Time Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 Yeah, I read this earlier today and its a great sign for the industry. Hopefully news like this will start to make developers/publishers etc think about releasing games earlier over here, wishful thinking I know but tis the season for miracles
Ten10 Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 It would be nice if games companies start taking us seriously like they do with the US. I hope this shows them that serious money can be made in the UK, and we're not just that small country that is part of Europe.
Phube Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 I think that's Nintendo's Blue Ocean strategy in action!
Maiky-NiSuTe Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 nintendo is really shifting big numbers all over the world. and even if the shortage hurts nintendo (as they said them self) it still is a fact that nintendo gets money for every console made!
