Retro_Link Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 http://www.cubed3.com/news/8356/1/Watching_Movies_on_Wii_-_A_Reality Nintendo News | Watching Movies on Wii - A Reality With a little help... Despite Nintendo stating that people are not bothered about watching movies on Wii because of basically every household owning a DVD player, people still want the feature. Now it has finally arrived, kind of... X-OOM Software has launched X-OOM Movies on Wii. Nintendo fans will now be able to play movies and TV shows on their Wii after a convertion process. X-OOM's latest software, supporting the M-PEG codec, allows for perfect quality playback. Simply run the DVD on a PC and save the file using 'Movies on Wii' to the appropriate format; once this is complete, transfer the file to the Wii using an SD memory card. With a number of editing options including an 'Expert Mode', you can also cut and back up individual scenes and whole movies as you wish. With help from X-OOM's Fit-To-Stick technology, movies can be automatically loaded onto the memory card in a short, simple process using only the space that is available. X-OOM Movies on Wii offers support for video formats such as DivX, XviD, MPEG2, MPEG4, WMV and more, costs just £19.99 and is available for purchase now from http://www.X-OOM.com and Amazon UK. Seems an ok alternative!
Cube Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 Can someone change the title to "Another program to convert ripped DVD files to the format that the Wii uses"?
Dante Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 Funny that the site missed this part: The use of DVD PLAYER Software for GC MODE can cause harm to your laser in the long run. Apparently the wii lens isn't made for continuous loading, and using that app (on DVD5 or DVD9) will; cause the lens to deteriorate quickly over time.
Retro_Link Posted August 20, 2007 Author Posted August 20, 2007 Can someone change the title to "Another program to convert ripped DVD files to the format that the Wii uses"?Oh ok, didn't realise there were lots of programs like this! Close this thread if it's useless!
Cube Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 Oh ok, didn't realise there were lots of programs like this! There's no Wii-specific ones for Windows. But there are programs that convert to the motion jpeg format that the Wii uses.
