Nintendo News | Majesco Brings Side-Scrolling Shooter to Wii

An interesting project in the works from Majesco/Budcat Creations brings a top side-scrolling "frenetic geometric battle" game to the Wii, Blast Works: Build, Fuse & Destroy.

Due for release in Q1 2008, Blast Works lets plays craft the game by building levels, ships and enemy crafts. In addition, players can absorb the pieces and weapons of destroyed ships to bolster their own defenses during battle spanning over 15 different air, land and sea missions - the bigger your ship, the harder it is for enemies to penetrate. Players can also upgrade their ship in the Hangar by customising weapons, propulsion systems and armour.

Creative types will further enjoy building a ship from scratch with the Ship Editor and then testing it out in combat on a custom level they’ve built with the Level Editor. To defend the Hangar, players must use the Wii Remote like an anti-aircraft turret to shoot down enemies attacking from all angles.

The game also features a nifty 2-player mode for multiplayer antics.

"Gamers can literally build their own shooter experience via Blast Works’ easy-to-use, multiple in-game editors. This exceptional customisation combined with the unique “stickiness†of enemy debris and bright geometric graphics delivers a standout game that never plays the same way twice."

Now this is that developer effort we've been waiting for. Brilliant art style and lots of care. Looking forward to seeing how this one turns out. Thanks Retro.

You're welcome!
Sounds very interesting , but not quite sure about the graphical style as it appears to be a bit busy and confusing. One to watch though maybe.
Probably a game that will look better in motion and just looks a bit to busy and colourful in pictures.

Art Styles and Concept are great, but this game is seriously going to be lacking if they don't allow you to share levels on the Wi-Fi connection somehow. It's a must have if they can pull that off though.
