stuwii Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 :awesome: very good new band, there new single is the best song of 2007 so far. views anyone?
Charlie Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 How To Save A Life was released in 2005, but they've only just got big now. I really like the first 3 songs on the album and a few of the others. The song HTSAL is amazing though, I listen to it all the time.
Jon Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 Really awesome band, they've got quite an original sound, can't get 'How To Save A Life' out of my head.
Ashley Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 they've got quite an original sound Urr no. They're similar to a lot of generic pop-indie. They're a band who have an album that the first half is good, the second half completly washes over you. Its so plain. I like HTSAL but its become the new shorthand for sad, whereas before it was Chasing Cars. I like "Over My Head (Cable Car)" because I can relate to it more.

Kaizer Chiefs are generic pop indie, not The Fray. Quite funny how you mention Chasing Cars, as both songs have in large part, Greys Anatomy for their success. Chasing Cars was never going to even be released as a single until it played in the second season finale, like wise with HTSAL which was used for all the promos.

I didn't say I dislike The Fray or indie-pop (not that fond of Kaiser Chiefs but hey ho) but The Fray are just like Longwave, The Wayouts, Annuals et al. HTSAL was also helped by its usage in Scrubs, which was not long after. (Im not trying to dispute whether Chasing Cars or HTSAL are good songs, as I like both, but its more of a personal chagrin of mine how every vidder goes with the zeitgeist. Chassing Cars was it a few months ago, with HTSAL now being it. And if you wish to relate it back to GA, it is reflective of how GA creates the zeitgeist because it is itself the zeitgeist. It is very much in vogue right now (because of its formula - mixing relationship drama with hospital situations is not exactly new but they have given it a fresh and interesting slant) just like The OC was a few years ago.)
