Dyson Posted January 14, 2007 Posted January 14, 2007 I have between 50 and 75 pounds to spend on a graphics card, for gaming. I'm currently using a Radeon X550 256mb PCI-E, 1gb RAM and a 3ghz processor. It can only run HL2 on medium, and BF2142 with all settings on low at 8fps - anyone got any good suggestions, preferably with links? It's quite urgent, need to know before Wednesday please!
mariosmentor Posted January 14, 2007 Posted January 14, 2007 Geforce 7600 This is what I have and it runs oblivion, battlefield 2142 and half life fine. Don't know anything about Radeon's I'm afraid. Other than that I don't think you'll get much else unless you raise your price.
Caris Posted January 14, 2007 Posted January 14, 2007 Yeah go for a 7600GT good solid cards, nice price to. This is what you want if you can stretch the price limit: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-019-BG
Dyson Posted January 14, 2007 Author Posted January 14, 2007 Looks pretty good, what detail level does it run HL2/BF2/Oblivion at?
Shorty Posted January 14, 2007 Posted January 14, 2007 I've got a 7600GT and can run HL2 and Oblivion on maximum possible graphics. But you can't assume the same for your PC, as processor and RAM will be taken into account too (I have a Core 2 Duo and 2GB RAM). More recent games it has more trouble with though, its definitely the first thing that will need upgrading for my PC. However you can't expect much for £50-75, its definitely a bargain and worth it if you can find it so low.
Dyson Posted January 14, 2007 Author Posted January 14, 2007 I'm easy when it comes to ATi/nvidia, by the way, and this 7600 looks pretty good. Seeing as I can get it Ex-VAT, how about this? http://www.microdirect.co.uk/ProductInfo.aspx?ProductID=15105&GroupID=0
Caris Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 i would get the one i linked you to cause its pre over clocked.
