ultrajamie Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 the wii has a 60hz setting in the hardware options for the european model? if nintendo left this out I'll be really, really let down.... especially as many thirdparties don't seem to have set their technical bar very high in other areas *cough* ubisoft
Cube Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 It seems up to the games themselves. Hopefully all will have 50Hz/60Hz modes.

Cube Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 Why? It's exactly the same as how the GameCube did 50 and 60Hz...
ultrajamie Posted December 2, 2006 Author Posted December 2, 2006 Why? It's exactly the same as how the GameCube did 50 and 60Hz... because why should you have it as a setting in each and every game and have to set it every single game you play.... when since the xbox there have been other consoles that let you choose just once. also some companies don;t bother, and others do horrid, and inconsistent pal conversions.... eg capcom. and i really don;t think the gamecube should be held up as an example of how to do things right either.
Nintendork Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 Good games will support PAL60 576p Simple. To maximise support for GameCube games it's likely that the option will remain.

Nintendork Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 My main problem was lack of digital output.. but I reckognise that GameCube support is more important in the short term.
ultrajamie Posted December 2, 2006 Author Posted December 2, 2006 My main problem was lack of digital output.. but I reckognise that GameCube support is more important in the short term. yeah because the 15 people in the world... all under six and playing pokemon... who still use the shambling purple fisher-price reject sale alike gamecube... are exactly the same people who nintendo are targetting the wii at now. the gamecube compatability thing doesn;t even hold up... surely there can be hardware settings for the wii software to check.. and a different state that is triggered when a gc disc is recognised
Nintendork Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 When you fiddle, things go wrong. (see PS3/360 backwards compatibility) Obviously the systems price point couldn't justify a digital output to compliment pro logic II encoding. They already spent a ton of money engineering the damned slot loading drive to work smoothly for mini DVD and full size DVDs.
