  1. Playstation 5 Console Discussion

Performance RT should be the “best” option if you want a nice balance of graphical performance and high frame rate. Dependent on your setup and how sensitive you are to frame rates you may find one of the other options better. Best thing to do is give them all a try and see which works best for you.
  2. Lego!

Looks nice, will definitely be picking up a set.
  3. General Movie Thread

I’ve always liked the two sequels. The original works well on its own and the second two do a great job of building up the world and playing with the format. Still one of my all-time favorite trilogies. Managed to catch Resurrections the other day and was pleasantly surprised. The way they took the story made sense and it was a nice twist on the format while remaining true to the originals. I kind of hope that’s it for those characters/story now but I’d love more general Matrix stuff.
  4. Show off your Christmas Swag!

I was really happy this year because I got pretty much nothing. Usually, it’s a real pain having to find something to do with a load of stuff I don’t actually want but this year I just got a bit of money from my Dad and that’s it. Unfortunately, my son now receives an even bigger pile of crap than I ever did - so the problem continues. The main thing this year was: And yes, the power drill and hammer in the background were needed to put it together. As someone that usually has no problem constructing things, this was the most ridiculous thing I've ever built - I real mission. Still, he seems to love it so it was all worth it.

Which group did you get in the end? I'm B which I'm OK with given how long I forgot to put my order in for. It will be a nice Christmas present for next year.
  6. Playstation 5 Console Discussion

Welcome to the club! I buy all of my games through PSN and there is usually a stand-alone version for the PS5 when a conversion has been done “properly” - I say “properly” as I’m sure many of these are just a PS4 Pro version labeled differently. All of the games have had to be compatible with PS4 Pro for a long time now so you’ll at least get that version with anything you have that is specifically PS4 only. PS5 specific stuff I think Miles Morales and Astro’s Playroom are essential. Once F1 2021 came out in the summer I haven't actually played much else so I need to do some catching up myself.
  7. House buying is the worst

Finally have a decision in principle and it’s come in well above the general value of the stuff we’re interested in. Understandably not much has been coming on the market these last few weeks. We have a few properties shortlisted already and will get properly on the viewings early next year. Quite looking forward to getting properly into it.
  8. Although the 2020 season finished less than a month ago it’s time to get ready for 2021. Let’s take a look at what’s planned for this year: Will keep the above updated as more is available. I really enjoyed 2020 and hope this season will be another close midfield battle. It would be great if Mercedes can be reigned in a little but given the minimal rule changes this year I think that’s very unlikely. Things I’m looking forward to: Hamilton becoming the (statistically) outright greatest of all time. I’m not a fan but glad he’s the one doing it. The return of Alonso, my all time favourite driver. With the progress of Renault/Alpine I can see him winning a race this year. McLaren continuing their good form and Ricciardo maybe getting back on the top of the podium. More random things happening due to the ongoing pandemic situation. Of course with the avoidance of any harm to people. Schumacher in F1 and hopefully doing well. Mazepan hopefully being gone soon. More great stuff from Russell and the deserved promotion to Mercedes for 2022. I enjoyed doing the predictions for 2020 and want to continue something. Not sure whether we do something similar to last year of just forum predictions or find a fantasy league to take part in? Any suggestions on that one? What are you all looking forward to this year?
  9. General Retro Discussion

I had a really busy afternoon and totally forgot to be ready for this on time. I have an order in at least but god knows when I’ll actually get one.
  10. UK Covid booster programme

I want to get mine as soon as possible but need to figure out getting signed up with Doctors etc. and have them register that I’ve had the first two shots outside of the country. Hoping that’s not too tricky of a process. Seems very optimistic to me that they will be able to hit their timelines. I hope they do but honestly having come from Singapore I really don’t mind the restrictions we have here or if they increase a little. I’m already working from home and won’t be going out all that much between now and the new year.
  11. Formula 1: 2021 Season

I totally agree with this. This season has been a total mess as it comes to regulations and today was on a whole other level. I do (completely and totally) dislike Verstappen but would be OK with him winning it fairly. As it stands I feel like he’s won a manufactured title to ensure the next season of Drive to Survive ends in as much excitement as possible. Liberty have done a lot of positive things for the sport but today was an absolute joke. I don’t think I’ve ever been so pissed off with the sport as I am right now.
  12. General Retro Discussion

Really glad there are going to be more available, I’ll definitely be putting an order in!
  13. Formula 1: 2021 Season

I’m writing this to make sure that noting comes up on the main page as I just realized that I spoiled the race in my reply and that is not a very nice thing to do. I hope nobody saw it and that this is long enough to cover it up. My reply to the thread is in the spoiler tag.
  14. Questions

Maybe on the COVID front it would be good to just start new threads on specific topics? I did quite enjoy some of the heated debates in that thread but it also overwhelmed some legitimate topics that would have benefited from some close discussion. It’s definitely something we need threads for at least.
  15. What Have You Bought?

Preparing for our move to the UK with some home office equipment: A couple of monitors A Wave-3 microphone with a few extra pieces. Have wanted this for a while so quite happy it was randomly 50 quid off.
  16. House buying is the worst

Yeah, I’m sure it will be exactly the same for me. We’re not in a huge rush and the longer it goes on the more money we have, would just be nice not to have to waste too much money on rent.
  17. Office Chairs

I’m jealous! Have been thinking I’ll see if I can pick up a second hand one when I get back and do exactly the same thing.
  18. House buying is the worst

Forgot to update on this. Details came back and it looks like we can get a mortgage as soon as we’re back in the UK for around about the amount we were expecting. As expected there are some issues with buying flats but they were within what we’re able to do so doesn’t actually cause us any problems. The flat we were quite keen on has been sold which is a shame, but lead us to look at some other properties. Currently really like a 3 bed semi which has had a big extension put on the back which adds a huge open plan living area. It also has a garden office at the bottom of a pretty sizable garden which is great as we wouldn’t need to use a bedroom for my office. The only downside is it’s a little further from town that we’d like to be. I’m pretty sure it will be long gone by the time we get back, but at least we have more ideas on the kind of things we’re keen on.
  19. Monitors

I need to kit out my home office and monitors are a pretty important part of that. Now is a good time to be buying with lots of good deals to be found - does anyone have recommendations for what to go for? Currently my top choices are: Dell Only 1080p Looks good Expensive USB-C LG Better resolution Nice stand Good price Too big Lenovo 4k Good price Way too big Not keen on the general look Any others I should consider? I’ll be using them with a MacBook Pro and usually have one in landscape and one in portrait. 24 inch is my sweet spot for size and I’d prefer as small bezels as possible. Having USB-C is very nice but not essential.
  20. Job woes/wins

Either Leamington Spa or Warwick dependent on where we find a good place. Definitely around that area though.
  21. Job woes/wins

Yeah I was pretty shocked when I saw the draft. Will have words with them. Think this is the first time I’ve been Pocket Gamer.
  22. Job woes/wins

Started my new job and they wrote a nice press release about me: Press Release
  23. It’s pretty much the same story as Ubisoft. These “leaders” have perpetuated a toxic workplace for years and now they’ve been called out on it they will do the absolute bare minimum to look like they’ve addressed it but in reality continue with he status quo. Given that most huge deals such as CoD marketing will be done at multiple levels of the company this will make it very hard for Kotick to remain in the position. I’m sure other partners (especially American ones) won’t be too far behind in condemning all of this. The shareholders only care about making money, as soon as Kotick has a negative push on that, which it seems is not too far away, he’ll be out.
  24. House buying is the worst

Mortgage advisor will be sending me our options tomorrow - very excited to find out how everything is looking. We’ve been keeping an eye on what is available over the last month and definitely have a pretty good idea on what we’re looking for now. Hopefully our wants and the mortgages available will align for us.
  25. Pikmin Bloom (mobile)

May as well send some Pikmin off to complete them, they’ll just be back in the morning. I’m so annoyed, I thought the event finished later so instead of going out earlier I thought I’d walk around for a bit while the baby is put to sleep. Now I’ve done 8,000 steps and nothing to show for it.
