  1. People just need some more time to understand why it's good. Most people didn't like The Adventure of Link and Majora's Mask on launch and shortly after. Now, about everybody loves these games. Something else: What about Links Crosbow advnture? I haven't played it for starters.... I can understand that it's not a real adventure. What is that like? 10 sets of shooting gallery's? That would not be worth it money. Point is, is this bad because it's a spin-off, or it is bad because it is simply bad and too short for anything with Link or Zelda?
  2. Once you got your route planned well, you could barely make it without getting hit. It'll leave you 3 or 4 seconds on the clock.... But it was only level 2 and the game got harder later on. The horror of this game was that I didn't own in on a NES, I had it on tape on the Commodere 64. This means that restarting the game all over didn't take 10-15 seconds, it actually took at least 30 minutes to rewind the tape to the right position and then play the tape again. Some games took more than an hour to load. When you got further in games, you would turn the tape and play side B. When game over, start on side A again. Playing the last bit of Wonderboy in Mosterland took at least 5 hours straight to get to the point where you were before.... then the tape jams. Gameconsoles are a good thing.
  3. I don't know that game, but I took a look at the screenshots.. It sure looks complicated... Most games like this are virtually impossible. Anybody played REZ? That was kinda cool too. A railroad shooter based on music and wireframes. Pretty Awesome, but I never completed it (I didn't own it either).
  4. Mario 64, one of those stars too me ages to find... It was soo easy once you knew. Just turn the camera around and do wall jumps. Somehow the camera wouldn't rotate unless you walked all the way to the end of a small path and then give it a try. I always though it was a dead-end. I believe one of my friends found it for me. Oh, I got another hard game: Zelda 1 from the NES was difficult, but palace 6 was hellish. Wizzrobes, Like Likes AND the bubbles that prevent you from using a sword.....Oh man...
  5. Oh and Wonderboy in Mosterland (on Commodore 64 cassettedeck), one of the most difficult games I've played. The legendary Turtles water level, that's terrific! When you finally beat it, you have no real clue where to go next. You'll die and have to start all over again. The Rick Dangerous game look quite good, but it seems like one of those games with a try and error gameplay. Do you think people should try it? Or was it one of the few games you had available to play, so you just kept at it? When I was a kid, I tried to beat everything on my gamers path, now, I simply avoid many games... Tetris was a good shot too, it's quite difficult to keep going, just like Wetrix or other puzzle games. Another one that came to mind was Harvest Moon. How could you tell you were doing right? Recently I played Zelda 2. It was still awesome! And, because I know this game pretty well and played it for years to beat it as a kid, I somehow got pretty far and I have hopes of beating it in a few tries. Beating the first palace and getting the hammer took me weeks to months, just like the turles water level and beyond. Both final bosses took me countless tries to beat. Now I got the upstab and reflect magic in Zelda2 within one continue.... Yay! I think I might give the Turtles another go one of these days. See if I can beat that. At least Goldeneye's enemies were stupid. Perfect dark was harder, but some cheap tricks still worked. Anybody played Timesplitters 2? Damn! And that's still arcade.... People who can play and beat warfare simulation games like Rainbow six or something are too skilled for computergames.
  6. What are the most difficult games you've ever played? Did you beat them, or did you give up? My hardest games I've ever beaten: Zelda 2 (The Adventure of Link) on the NES. The Turtles (1?), which I had on the Commodore 64, but was also released on the NES at one point or another. Hardest games I have not beaten completely: Perfect Dark (N64) - the extra perfect agent level with the Skedar after beating the story.... I didn't find the right tactics or something. That was the only thing in the game I didn't complete. I even beat all the challenges, but this I couldn't do. Pac World on Commodore 64, I broke three joysticks on level 7, where you had to keep jumping very fast to clear the water with the trampoline. Then I quit. Hero (also C64), I made it to level 164 once... How far did it go anyway? And lots, and lots of (crappy) Commodore games.... The character was 5 pixels high, the gap to jump through were 5 or 7 pixels large..... But I don't really count these. I problably forgot quite a few in this section. Except Zelda games and a few Mario games, I usually don't collect everything in the game.
  7. Yeah that's nasty! Japan and the USA getting all the good stuff months before us.
  8. Yeah what's with this Pikachu anyway? When having 150 (or even 500?) pokemon, why that yellow bugger? He can't even play Sushi-Go-Round! Wouldn't it be cooler to have, say, The Farfetch'ed adventure or something? Really, how can people be so fond of this electric weakling.
  9. Many games seem to get good when you reach a certain skill. I could never get myself there with V-Rally though. I can also understand that many people would think the old Super Mario Kart was crappy. I loved it! I still do.
  10. Not really rare, but they make me feel like a king (without a kingdom or even a crown, but nonetheless a king indeed). I still have the gold Zelda cassettes made of cheap, shiny plastic. yay!
  11. What about death rally, that one was amusing too.
  12. Number 7 and 9 are the only ones I've played. They can do better than that! Mortal Combat 2 was fairly bloody, but quake? I only remember your axe being reddish. Do we also have a non-violent game list?
  13. I'm not really sure about the '99 version though (are there any others). But we played one V-Rally game, and I didn't like it at all. It was some sort of... cheap. The steering was really, realy arcade style. Your car didn't seem to have any weight or balance point. When you hit something you would EXACTLY turn 180 degrees, then you couldn't make a turn back because the road was too small. Crusing back to the previous hairpin to turn your car around, losing one minute every time you screwed up on a corner OK, I wasn't completely fair, we both played 10 races or so.... But the cassette didn't make it through the night, that's for sure.... I felt nobody needed this game after Super Mario Kart on the SNES and Gran Turismo 2.
  14. Sorry, I kinda drifted off. I didn't vote yet, and I was wondering how to do so on page 3, then I made my own list (the same list that seems to be buggy to me) on page 4 describing how I think the zelda games would be rated by myself (voting for one Zelda is too difficult, so some of us tried to make a top 3)..... Then somebody asked if the final scores I gave in that post should summarize my top three. That's where the Zelda 2 (NES game, which wasn't included in the original poll by the way), part comes up. My score is too high on that, making it the best Zelda game, which it isn't.... Therefore I need to adjust my personal scores on the series, giving it bonus points (or deducted points) for certain (game-unique) inventions... For example: Zelda 1 and 2 get bonus points, they are so old, they can't really compete with the N64 ones for example.... However Zelda 2 gets bonus points for creativity compared to Zelda 1, it gets some of its points reduced for being too straight forward (you basically can't get lost, which gave some feeling of loneliness to the Zelda series) MM get bonus points for its setting and atmospere, but lacks the feeling of freedom due to the three day time limit, so a small minus there... ALttP has a longer story, but Minish Cap had better items..... All that and more... I'll update my post as soon as I can figure out what's wrong with it....
  15. Who says I'm not drunk at 11am? But, anyway.... What do you mean? That Zelda 2 thing comes from an old post, where I gave it a bit too much points somehow (underrated and creative, but not that much), and I feel I have to make up for it....
  16. A 2D sidescrolling game as the best Zelda? How did that happen. This is not right... It's a cool game I love to play once each year, but NO!!!!!! It is not the best Zelda, it doesn't make sense, now does it? I think I'm still missing some statistics. And I need to put it in some formula, to calculate its true value. First time playing; double count, some improved? gameplay / controls thingy, creativity and coolness, bonus points for NES and handheld games which have to compete with something they can't. Points deduction for some things, like being made many years later. Some other stuff.... I'll take care of that one of these days. Right now, the list is incomplete. And after that, the list is still buggy, as I still haven't played all Zelda titles.
  17. VRally 99 - This was bad. Very, very bad indeed. And I didn't even own it! A friend (some friend you are...) brought it over one time after buying it second hand for three euro's. We played one race each, then we set it on fire.. Heh.
  18. Note that: The LoZ has a second quest, which explains the high second value. This tread has a large collection of bottles filled with fairies
  19. Some Majora Love, eh? To me, Majora Mask is kind of special, just like The Adventure of Link... There is something to both these games, something quite sinister, but I can't figure it out. They just make me paranoia, I think. These two games have something most other games don't have. The setting, the complete feeling of the world around (and the endless redoing of certain things, events and parts of the game (?!)) It's just.... the replay value. Perhaps. While I played other Zelda games till the colors whent grey, I played MM and TAoL only four or five times in total. Some things somehow prevented me from playing it a lot. TAoL was too difficult to blast through quickly, when I tried I always ended up playing the game for months, unlike, for example ALttP, which you could play through in a week or so. With MM, it's so much work! It was awesome the first play through, the second time I already became fed up with some things like collecting rupees and items to start with, and the -great-idea-but-terribly-boring-way-to-stone-tower- Although the boss was cool, it was the first Zelda with a dump water temple too. Note that I haven't played all the Zelda games, I'm still cutting bushes for rupees to get: Twilight Princess, Wind Waker and the Phantom Hourglass (and Spirit Tracks). Scores for the games I did play: First number = First glance and playthrough, how cool I thought it was from start Second number = Direct replay value, right after beating the game for the first time Third number = (Replay) value after the next Zelda title made it to my console Fourth number = Total ranking after a long time LoZ = 8.5 - 8.6 - 9.0 - 8.5 TAoL = 6.0 - 9.5 - 8.0 - 9.2 ALttP = 9.0 - 8.5 - 8.0 - 8.6 LA = 8.0 - 7.0 - 7.5 - 7.2 OoS = 7.8 - 7.5 - 7.6 - 7.0 OoA = 7.8 - 7.5 - 7.6 - 7.0 OoT = 9.2 - 8.8 - 8.8 - 8.8 MM = 9.0 - 7.5 - 8.5 - 8.7 MC = 8.8 - 7.8 - ? - 8.6? Something like this, but slightly shifts from time to time....
  20. I haven't made my vote, but,... 1) The Legend of Zelda (NES) 2 and further, the rest. Without this classic game, Zelda and Link were not as awesome as they would be up to this day.... A Link to the Past (your first Zelda?) might not even excist without this NES game.... Where is The Adventure of Link????????? One of the coolest back then, even better when playing it 15 years later. Where are the CDi games? They are no good and I want to set them on fire with my candle!
  21. What? Anybody noticed the prize on those things? I mean, they look cool and all, but... costing way more than a Zelda videogame? Problably if you collect them all, you'll spend more on those figures than on the whole series so far. Why the hype?
  22. If all else fails, use fire!
  23. No need. Ike already anwsered these questions in the DSI XL topic. Thanks and out!
  24. OK. Being an occasional gamer throughout my life, while getting ocasionally completely hooked on some titles (games like Zelda, Crono Trigger, Final Fantasy V & X... Mario's are good fun too, especially Super Mario Kart 16-bit. Mainly the big titles I guess.) What should I get? A DS Lite or a DSi (normal one, I don't want the XL, although the wine red color is nice). These next questions will problably tell me. 1] Can you also use an AC-adaptor (?) to play without (using) your batteries? 2] Can you hook them up to your TV (or monitor)? 3] Do you NEED wireless internet on your computer to hook it up, or can you use cables of some sort? 4] Will I miss out on the GBA games? I'd like to have some of them IF I can find them in local stores (once again, the Zelda titles. I haven't looked what else I'd like yet). Or will there be GB/GBC/GBA downloads later on in Europe (PAL) too? 5] Any Dsi Exclusive titles announced so far?
  25. Yeah, those were fun. And bust-a-move / puzzle bubble too! I tried playing Wetrix on my PC, but something with the controls wasn't correct somehow. I believe my joystick keeps steering to the right plus the R2 button is broken. I guess I need a new one before I can play again. Wetrix = Paranoia game! play it!
