  1. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

Gave it a go on the standard batch of cups to varying stars of success. I enjoy the extra speed but it would be better on tracks with more forgiving corners as I've never braked so much in any Mario Kart before. I'll crack on with Mirror Mode on the Expansion Pack cups then see how they fair in 200cc after that. At least with the city tracks still being an unknown quantity, there won't be too much muscle memory to do battle with in Mirror Mode. Same goes for the Tour tracks.
  2. Remember seeing Suzume at the flicks. Thought it was pretty decent!
  3. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

3-starred the four last cups in 150cc. They gave me the most argy-bargy in Koopa Cape of all places. As Pauline, seeing DK heading up the chasing pack certainly gives you extra impetus not to get caught.
  4. Watched the Performance Analysis portion. I would like to hear someone that can't stand that after one level (just one!) of online multiplayer in Mario Maker 2.
  5. WarioWare: Move It! (3rd November 2023)

Sounds like an opportunity to get the Let's Tap box out!
  6. N-E Mario Kart 8 DX Get Together

Thanks for the races. Won't be on next week so crack on whenever SCG decides to roll in but I'll join again after that.
  7. Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution

Very true. We see this kind of thing demonstrated nowadays on NSO with multiple slots for the same game.
  8. N-E Mario Kart 8 DX Get Together

I'm going to try and make it tomorrow night.
  9. Fans of 2024 rejoice! Some cool looking stuff shown. Always a nice change of pace with the indies. Those are in the big-boy Directs. I'm still standing by for the next instalment of Jenny LeClue Detectivu and Agent A but I'm happy for them to take as long as they need.
  10. Sounds like the donkeywork's done so you should waltz through with those kinds of levels. Weed out your lesser cards and it's a foregone conclusion.
  11. Sports Story... it doesn't have to be this way forever.
  12. Did you regularly dodge enemies up until now? I cashed in all the levels I'd gathered up until Cor Hydrae but otherwise did minimal battling in there. I was concerned a classic divided party section was in the offing and didn't want to be snookered if I couldn't return to the blue flower. I was prepared to be in there for the long haul but when we sent the mini-bosses packing with minimal fuss, it was straight onto Malpercio. No hesitating, especially as he caused me no bother in the previous incarnation. Makes it all the more intriguing how we struggled with different bosses. Did Quzman not give you an Ultimate Card for the family tree?? Don't forget to make sure you've your strongest equips on. The battle after took me an embarrassingly long time because attack cards just weren't coming out. This is the one with quality slowdown and the hits you take are barely a scratch—would hardly blame you if you've forgotten it since the GC. The way things have gone, you'll likely have that one done in a single round.
  13. Did you make any better of a fist at it after some bumping and grinding? Xelha will be getting very, er, moist if you get it over the line. My last autosave has me at lvl 66.
  14. This is one game I will be checking footage and trying (hopelessly) to find reviews that aren't nostalgia-driven for before any eventual purchase of mine goes through. I feel like it's buyer's regret waiting to happen, this one.
  15. Yeah the boss was a joke. It was the getting there I wasn't a fan of. I don't know if I was thinking about the puzzles wrong but it seemed like one wrong move meant resetting the room. It was very tedious. Would have said if you get that far you'd be good to see it out. Likewise in Cor Hydrae I avoided pretty much all encounters though those Master's Hands things gave me the run around quite a few times. Being the final area, it's likely a good spot for experience if you need it. Blue flower at the entrance was it? No idea if five levels more is a good goal. I'd just try to judge it on how quick it is to level to get a feel for where the game expects you to be. Not sure if you remember from the GC but there's a lengthy wrap-up when you emerge victorious in Cor Hydrae so you don't want to be too tuckered out because it's not exactly cutscene + roll credits.
  16. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

It's only been the "65 hours or more" for me over the past couple of years as I came late to MK8 via an eShop ticket that was coming up for expiration. There was much deliberation over what to not buy physical, let me tell you. I likely sought guidance on here. Only reason I ended up in that situation was because they wouldn't hand over New Horizons on the day of release as lockdown restrictions were starting in shops! Even though it was right there and I was right there, they said they'd have to post it. As if I was giving up valuable time doing chores in Animal Crossing that first weekend to wait on the post. So eShop tickets it was. Like everyone, I thought the next MK was imminent but here we are so at least it wasn't a total waste... even if I don't have a cart and box to show for the transaction. On the plus side, they are two handy games to know are always ready to go. Next MK should keep the world of Nintendo and drop the real world. Think up better gravity stuff. Do, I don't know, top-down sections (because the bathtub track reminds me of Micro Machines). Wonder Seed mayhem. Mission Mode from MK DS. There's plenty they can do before yielding to open-world MK or a live service type game. The biggest shock will be if the city/ Tour tracks come back with updated graphics and music and it's good to see them. I'm happy to see the Pauline resurgence but I honestly hope singing and a mic stand isn't going to be her schtick forever.

Wondered if that was the case. I may well have commented on it earlier in the thread too then.
  18. The best slowdown is right at the end.
  19. Tetris 99 -- Available Today

Yeah, as a PAL gamer I got it on the Wii through one of the Hanabi Festivals.
  20. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

Hey there, Funky Kong. Is that a surf board in your pocket, or...? Seeing the sponsors listed at the end of the credits was a fun touch. Lends some authenticity to it. I just did it (the last four GPs) in 50cc and 100cc. At those speeds and level of competition it's pretty relaxed. I'm sure you'll get your racing line down pat before long.
  21. Thanks for double-checking that. I wonder if they can be skipped prior to having a wee keek at them first. How was the return to Zomsa for you? Maybe I'm giving Mizuti's sidequest short shrift because Savyna's would likely be an annoyance if left to last, too. And Xelha's doors.
  22. Played the demo back in September and thought it showed good promise. Looking forward to release day, especially since finishing last year/starting this year with DQ Treasures was lovely. "Oh, geez. Please come out in English! I would like nothing more!"
  23. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

DK Mountain transported me back to simpler times.
  24. Tetris 99 -- Available Today

That music was so repetitive. I've a gap for Special Themes 20 & 21 (or thereabouts) so it'd be nice if they finish the year with a catch-up event that includes those. Still need to get plenty with in-game tickets as well, mind.
  25. The order I did them in was Xelha > Gibari > Savyna > Lyude so since Savyna and her pass card deck got auto-subbed in previously, that was all the nudge I needed to get Lyude in too. Actually, Savyna's boss was the closest I came to wiping out after Jack who came back for a mo in the cabin on the hill. It was a battle of attrition with her face-down in the sand for the duration, so at least with Lyude I cobbled together some semblance of a functional deck in the hopes he'd chip in as a support act. Don't remember any death ray so it must have been a quick win!
